*Josh 's point of view*

I paced around on the gravel driveway in front of the pack house.

I could feel her so close, but at the same time so far away.

"Joshy! You came back!" Stacey screamed as she ran to me, arms wide as she ran to me.

I scrunched my face in disgust as I saw the little clothing she was wearing, it was a shame, really. To be so pretty and to throw it all away to be the pack slut.

I pushed her away from me as she attached herself to me, when I smelled Rose's blood on her.

"Where is she?" I growled, gripping her arm tightly, satisfied as she winced and shrunk under my gaze.

"I-I don't kn-know." She stuttered nervously, trying to pry my fingers from her arm, but I wasn't going to let go until I found my Rose.

'Tell me where she is." I growled as my father came into view, his arm bandaged up and a smug smile on his face.

"Where the hell is she?" I growled and everyone froze, staring at me with wide eyes.

"He's not an alpha." Pixie whispered to herself.

"But he has the authority of one." Redhead finished for her sister. "I've never seen anything like it before."

I growled, hearing their words but not registering them in my mind as I looked around, desperate for any sign of Rose.

And then, everything and everyone froze, as if time itself stopped.

Pixie shifted slightly on her feet though and my eyes snapped to her strained form.

"Go find her. I'll hold them off for as long as I can." She said through clenched teeth and I just wanted to run up and hug her then, thanking her for this, sacrificing her own life for her sisters.

But instead, I looked down at the ground again, wondering why I could feel her right beneath where I was standing.

I tapped my foot slightly, hearing nothing.

I tapped my foot again, slightly harder, and I heard it.

The sound of an echo below me, a loud screeching sound muffled by the dirt ground.

And the sound that both made my heart beat faster and made it stop at the same time.

A muffled groan of pain.

Rose's groan of pain.

I was on my knees the next second, scratching at the dirt desperately to get to her.

My mate.

My soul mate.

The only one for me.

And I wouldn't ruin that ever again.
