Josh POV

Something was wrong. Something was off, I could feel it. But I didn't know what it was until the doorbell rang.

"I'll get it!" Mom said, jumping up from her seat and running towards the entrance hall before I could react. I sighed and leaned back, rubbing my face in irritation.

My mother was so cheery at times, I couldn't stand it. But she was my mother, and I loved her.

I heard my mother gasp and I stood up, curious as to what was happening, only to freeze as soon as I turned the corner to the front door.

Four royals were standing there, head held high as they stared down at my mother, hope in their eyes.

"Where is she? Please tell me Rose is here?" The youngest said, a girl around twenty, my age.

I frowned in confusion as I stared at her. The feeling I got in my stomach when I looked at her was very well near the same feeling I got when I looked at Rose.

I shook it off.

"She hasn't been here for a few weeks." Mom said in awe, staring up at the four royal people on her doorstep.

"That means you know where she is. Where is she?" The oldest said, a man in his mid thirties or forties.

They all looked related, all siblings and all older than Rose.

"I don't know." Mom whispered uneasily.

The other guy, about my age, narrowed his eyes at me.

"Are you her mate?" He asked hatefully. Jealously raged in his eyes and my eyes widened slightly.

I gulped and nodded, fully aware of what this guy was capable of. But he looked away from me and focused on the others.

The girl with red hair suddenly appeared by my side, staring up at me, her eyes pleading.

"She's at the pack house. But her father allows no visitors for her first shift." Mom said, no trace of lying in her tone.

"Fine. We just have to wait another week then." The girl with short black hair and a bounce to her step said as she walked over to the couch, plopping down and putting her feet on the table.

I could feel my eyes darken as I stared at her. Why, I didn't know. My wolf stirred happily inside of me, which wasn't normal.

"Um, sorry for my sisters behaviour. You don't mind if we stay over a few hours do you? We searched for our sister for so long, we can't give up now." The oldest said sternly, but the pleading look didn't leave his eyes, along with another emotion as he stared at mom.

I narrowed my eyes at him.

"Of course! You can stay as long as you'd like! Any royals are welcome in our home!" Mom said, clapping her hands together happily when she noticed the feet on her table, a stern motherly look coming into her eyes.

"No feet on the table. If you stay here, you act with manners, royals or not." Mom said, gently sliding the girls feet off the table.

I sighed. This is my mother. I loved her all the more for that.
