Bold is Wings of Fire's POV

Sophie POV:

Clink.

Sophie blinked. Was that the sound of two planets crashing?

BOOM.

Well, that's more like it.

But the explosion? It was huge.

Sophie and her friends were already back near the hideout, even inside the main building, but they could still feel quite a lot of heat coming their way.

"We're going to burn!" Biana screamed.

They hurtled down the staircase to the hideout and shut the second door.

"Are you alright?" someone asked.

It was Linh.

"Yea—nope. There's an epic explosion outside." Fitz told her.

Elwin came rushing to their side.

"You all have some minor burns, but you're pretty much okay," he said, flashing colored orbs at them.

"I'll try to extinguish the flames," Linh said.

"Isn't it dangerous?" Keefe asked from behind them.

"Besides, Atlantis is underwater," Sophie pointed out. "Maybe the ocean will do the job."

"Well, someone's got to extinguish them, or our whole world will burn. And anyways, we're inside a forcefield for a reason. The ocean would ruin the entire city," she said.

"But how would the explosion affect the city while the forcefield is still up?"  Biana asked.

No one knew the answer to that.

"Let me come with you," Sophie insisted anyways. She couldn't bear to let Linh out there herself.

But Elwin gently stopped her. "You still need to be treated a bit. Don't those burns hurt?"

"And I'm the Hydrokinetic around here," Linh added. "Unless you suddenly manifested? Again?"

"That's too many abilities, Foster," Keefe said, smirking.

"I'll be fine," Linh assured her.

"But . . . Linh . . ." Sophie said.

"I'll be fine," she said again, before running out to the smoking earth above.

Moon POV:

Clink.

"Wow. Is that how our planets crash?" Winter asked.

"Um . . ."

No one had a response to that.

BOOM.

"That's more like it," Winter shouted over sounds of explosion.

Moon's eyeballs seemed to dry in an instant as the fire spread over their planet. Her ears rang and her nose burned from the smoke, which had wandered over to them even though their Hive wasn't the least bit damaged.

Cricket was right; the explosion was way bigger than anticipated.

It burned Vinegaroon, Hornet, Cicada and Tsetse Hive; it sent debris flying to the rest of the hives; Mantis Hive was mostly destroyed; all the silk webs were ruined. Luckily, the three Hives they had told the dragons to evacuate to—Jewel, Wasp, and Bloodworm Hive—were spared, so they were all fairly safe—for now.

Moon hadn't been here long, but she had already fallen in love with the beautifully crafted Hives that housed all the dragons from around here. She couldn't imagine the pain and grief the actual Hive citizens could feel. Or at least the ones that had to evacuate. Their Hives would be entirely gone by the time they were allowed to go back. If there was anything to go back to.

And Moon had one more big question. Where did the evil (as was mentioned) Queen Wasp come in all of this? Her and her supposedly barely less evil sisters? Had they left? Evacuated? Didn't seem to think what they were doing was a big problem?

No, what was most likely was that she was scheming, while their world burned.

The group heard gasps of shock, of fear and of both from below and above. Dragons had come out to watch, too, it seemed.

They could hear the whispers and murmurs of the dragons talking.

". . . the Hives. All destroyed . . ."

". . . can't believe it destroyed my Hive!"

". . . crashing into a tiny planet caused this?"

There was an abundance of wails and cries and screams and shouts too, a cacophony in Moon's still-sensitive ears.

She exchanged a look with Qibli.

If they were to keep the calm and peace in Pantala, they had a lot of work to do.

And it didn't even include calming Pyrrhia.
