Wren POV:

"NO WAY."

"But, Wren," Leaf said pleadingly.

"You're our only hope, even if you stole Ivy," Daffodil grumbled.

"I am NOT DOING THAT," Wren protested. "No WAY am I going to sneak into that disgusting place to get UNDAUNTABLE's of all people's help."

"You said he wanted to help you escape from his father, though," said Leaf. "Come on, it can't be too bad,"

"Uh, if you mean the WORST, then that's for sure,"

"Guys, you aren't doing it right," Violet sighed, "so let me: Wren, you will sneak into the Indestructible City with us, then into Undauntable's house-mansion thing and get him to annoy his dad. It's the best way to get this done as fast as possible,"

"And why can't any of YOU do it?" Wren asked, throwing her hands in the air. "Seriously, I'm taking such big risks—"

"See?" Violet said triumphantly. "She said 'I'm taking,' not 'I would be taking!'"

Wren scowled. "Again, I'm not going," she said for the hundredth time, "and if I did, then I would be taking the biggest risk!"

"No, you wouldn't," Daffodil countered, holding up a sheet of paper with their plan outlines on it. "We're sabotaging the Invincible Lord's hunting party! And disguising as peasants and asking for really obnoxious things! And we're probably gonna be stealing from his advisors or something so he has to use his powers to find who did it! Although I don't think that last one's a good plan," she frowned at the paper.

"And here I am, sneaking into the most fortified building in the most fortified human city on the whole planet, just to see some boy that may or may not help us annoy his dad!" Wren said.

"Oh, come on," Leaf sighed. "It can't be harder than what we're doing,"

"And what am I supposed to do after?" Wren continued. "I sneak in, if possible, and ask Undauntable to help. Let's say he does. Then what?"

"Then you stay there and hide and make sure he actually does help." Violet read from the paper. "Because he can totally be just faking and rat us out to his dad. And also I think he likes you."

Wren went as red as a tomato. "Look," she said when she'd composed herself. "I know that this can help keep the entire population free, but honestly, I'm sure Leaf would be just fine sneaking in and talking to Undauntable."

Leaf looked taken aback. "Hey, don't throw me under the bus!"

"Don't worry," Violet said with a bossy voice. "She will not be backing out of this because I already sent a coded message to Undauntable telling him to expect you, but for unknown, secret reasons. And I said that Wren would be there to explain. And to not talk to anyone else about it other than her,"

Wren growled, "No, I am not going!"

Leaf covered his smile with a hand, "I think you have to,"

Wren groaned. "Why are you my friends?"

"Be safe, stay safe, and see you in three weeks!" Sky said, worry creasing his forehead. "Wren, you will come back, right? Like the times before? Not going to be in danger?" He paced the valley Wren had left him the times she had gone to trade with Undauntable at the foot of the stairs of the Invincible City. He seemed to hate the valley even more than before, because he had to wait three weeks until he could come back to pick them up.
