Winter POV:

"Goodnight, Winter," Sophie said quietly, heading back to her sparkly hut.

No, wait. It was a house. Or a mansion, as Sophie had said once, which had made Grady and Edaline smile wanly.

"Humph." Winter grumbled, curling his tail in in his pasture.

Sophie's soft footfalls faded away, and Winter sighed.

Why did these scavengers think they could control him? Keep him in a pasture? Tell him to stay here?

They didn't even have proper food. Where were all the polar bears? Penguins? Walruses? Fish? That one time the Edaline person had made fish was the ONLY time there had been fish. All they had was green goop.

Should he run away? Go back to Pyrrhia? Was everyone worrying? Did they know he was here? Were they looking for him? Had they forgotten about him?

Oh no. What if they had forgotten about him?

What if they thought, Oh, it's just Winter, the scavenger-loving prince. He'll be fine wherever he is . . .

Had they really—

A talon, not a hand those silly scavengers had but a talon grabbed Winter's shoulder and he nearly screamed.

"Who's there?" he asked defensively.

Under the moonlight, the silhouette of a dragon appeared then vanished.

"It's me! Kinkajou! Here to save you!" Kinkajou whisper-hissed. "I'm the spy! Whatever that's supposed to mean!"

Winter rolled his eyes. Of course they would send the most hilariously pink dragonet in all of Pyrrhia to save him.

"Well, you nearly scared the scales off of me, than you very much." Winter shook his head. "When do we go?"

"Well . . . um . . ." The air in front of him shrugged. "They just said to get you."

"Who's they?" Winter asked harshly.

"You know . . . Anemone, Sundew, Willow, and heroic Turtle . . ." Kinkajou swooned, her wingtips turning pink.

"Argh, give me a minute." Winter huffed, turning on Kinkajou and starting towards that "house".

The moment he arrived on the doorstep, there was a yell and two of Sophie's bodyguards had swords on his neck.

This was normal. These guys were way too overprotective.

But then again, Sophie had apparently nearly died so many times that maybe it was necessary.

A little while later, a groggy Sophie came down a structure in the center of the house that spiraled.

"Yes, Winter?" she asked, rubbing her eyes.

"I'm leaving." he said bluntly.

Sophie stared at him. "Leaving? Didn't you say that you would stay?"

Another scavenger, taller and male, came up behind her and asked something.

Sophie replied, and told him, "May I ask why? You've been with us for almost a week now and you've never had a reason to leave other than stretching your wings."

"My friends are here. I may as well return to our planet now." Winter began to leave but Sophie grabbed his tail.

"Wait," she said. "We had some members of a groups of . . . villains . . . go into missing and we're afraid they may have gone to your planet. Can a group of us please join you to search for them?"
