chapter six

Gerard bites his lip as he glances over to Bert who sits beside him. They're watching a movie together, pizza is on it's way. Gerard can't stop thinking about what happened earlier. Were they actually going to kiss if Mikey didn't call?

"You okay?" Bert asks as he glances over. Noticing Gerard looking at him rather than watching the movie.
The same thing has been on Bert's mind. Were they actually going to kiss? Bert like Gerard as more than a friend. But he couldn't force Gerard to hide being gay.

That is if Gerard were to ever like him. In Bert's eyes, Gerard's way out of his league. Gerard's absolutely beautiful, he's extremely funny. Smart and kind.
He's never met someone who makes him feel the way Gerard does. Though they've only known each other 2 weeks, they mean a lot to each other.

"Yeah, I'm okay. Are you sure you want to stay with me again tonight? You don't have too if you don't want too." Gerard double checks. As much as Gerard wants him to stay, he doesn't want Bert to feel obligated too.

"Baby there's no where else I'd rather be." Bert smiles sweetly at Gerard. There's a knock at the door and Bert pay against Gerard's protests. The two sit back on the couch together, eating and enjoying the movie.

Gerard covers up with the blanket he'd brought out earlier. It's night now, the sun has gone down along with the temperatures. The heating system in their apartment isn't very good, but Gerard obviously can't afford to fix it.

Gerard feels Bert shake a little, getting chills from the cold due to lack of heat. "Well don't freeze dumbass, cover up." Gerard chuckles, giving him more of the blanket as they're sat close together.

"Your heating fucking sucks." Bert chuckles, just teasing. Bert couldn't imagine taking care of himself and Mikey, who depends on him. Though it's true. Taking the opportunity and wrap his arm around Gerard. Making Gerard look at him, laughing sweetly.

"You think you're so damn slick with that, don't you." Gerard chuckles as he looks at Bert with a soft grin. Only resulting in Bert's warming laugh.
"But the bad thing is, is that you are."

Bert smiles and the two continue watching the movie in that position. They're so comfortable with each other, everything comes so naturally. This is new to Gerard, having a man around like this.  "I wish we could spend time like this more often." Bert says.

"I do too. But I'll try and get more time off. I really enjoy seeing you, I really like you. Which is different because I usually don't let myself get this close with people. Especially someone I met only two weeks ago." Gerard says, chuckling softly at himself.

"I really like you too Gerard. Sometimes different is good. I know you're worried about Mikey and I. But I don't know what happened with the last person who was around him. I'm not going to hurt you or your brother, I promise you." Bert reassure him.

"I really hope so." Gerard says and Bert pauses the movie, shuffling to be able to look at him. But keeping his arm around his shoulders, looking at him.
"Do you mind telling me what the last guy did to you? To Mikey?" Bert asks.

He doesn't know if it's something that upsets Gerard to talk about. But he'd like to know what he's being compared too. He wants to know what happened. Mikey's a sweet kid, and Gerard's an angel. He wants to know what someone did to hurt them. To make Gerard not want to bring another man into his life.
