A/N We all know that I love a good old royalty story, so have another one.
Also, I hit 8k the other week. If you had told me in January that this would have happened I wouldn't have believed you. So thank you for that, an extra special thank you to the people that have been here to see each chapter published.
This is also in celebration of me being pulled out of a depressive episode.
Today was the day, Marvin was going to tell his parents. Even though he knew it wouldn't be great, he was hoping some good would come out of it. Being the next in line to the throne and having the pressure of creating an heir after you die isn't the easiest thing to do for a young gay prince. But Marvin couldn't deny his feelings for the prince in the neighboring kingdom.
Marvin and Whizzer had always been close. Their fathers had been close allies for many years so it wasn't a surprise when the two boys became friends. Every two weeks one kingdom would travel to the other to take part in celebrations. Most of which were made up celebrations, but they were fun none the less.
The two were surprised they hadn't been caught sneaking off into the forest. They would travel to the border of the two kingdom to the large oak tree. A secret door had been created by the two so they could hide their plan.
On an old, torn piece of paper, a plan had been written. The pair had decided that by the time they were both18 they had to decide what they wanted to do. Stay as royalty or run away together. Whizzer has turned 18 the other week so it was time. They would each tell their parents on the same day and the same time. Then they would meet each other by the tree. This was a large test of trust. But Marvin didn't doubt for a fact that Whizzer would show.
Marvin stood in-front of his parents chambers. He took a deep breath in and knocked on the old oak door. A 'come in' could just be heard from the other side.
"Mother, Father I have something to tell you." Marvin announced.
"You're gay?" The Queen asked.
"And your going to run away with Whizzer and live in the countryside away from the royal life?" The King added.
"What? How? You already know?" Marvin was bewildered.
"Son come sit with us." He Father said and pointed to the chair, "When you were younger you would talk in your sleep. I would always come check on you an hour you had been put to bed. I heard everything."
"We've been discussing it for ten years now Marvin. I'm surprised you hadn't noticed me knew." His mother laughed. "We did encourage you to help plant the crops."
"The trips to the countryside." The King added.
"Helping with animals."
"Letting you stay in the village for a few days."
"Allowing you to have your own country home."
"Son, we even removed the ban on homosexuals." His father laughed and his son's shocked face.
"I'm a teenager, I don't pay attention to my parents." Marvin admitted which made his parents laugh. "So you don't mind."
"No son, we will allow you to go. The castle gates will be wide open if the two of you ever eat to visit."
Marvin smiled and hugged both his parents. "I'll come visit in a few months."
"Have fun Marvin." His mother smiled.
Marvin nodded and sprinted down the hall. He grabbed his bags from his room and ran to the kitchens. The cook, Cordelia, had already prepared him a weeks worth of food to get the pair started. His next stop was the castles physician Charlotte. She gave him a small bag full of potions and bandages if they needed it.
When he reached the stables, his personal servant Mendel had already got his horse ready. Trina, one of the mothers servants was standing next to Mendel holding Marvin's sword.
"Thank you, I'd be late if it wasn't for you two." Marvin smiled.
"Nothing would get done if you hadn't got us two." Trina laughed.
"Are you sure you don't want us to come with you? Travelling in numbers is always safer?" Mendel asked as Marvin climbed upon the horse.
"For the millionth time, we will be fine Mendel stop worrying. I'll be back in a few months to visit. And I promise you I will be alive and well." Marvin answered.
He waved to the two and rode out of the castle gate. As he passed the people who lived within the city walls, they cheered and threw flowers at him. Marvin smiled. He loved the kingdoms people, but he needed a fresh start. As he rode past the last set of guards he knew he was free. He tugged on the reigns and the horse began to run.
When Marvin reached the tree, he was surprised Whizzer wasn't their already. Marvin was supposed to be the late one, not Whizzer. He heard a few branches crack in the distance. He drew his sword and scanned the area. Threw the bushes emerged an worn out Whizzer.
"Whiz, what happened?" Marvin asked.
"There's no time to stop and talk. My parents weren't very happy. They hid the horses and sent guards after as I left. We need to go!" Whizzer laughed.
The pair jumped on the horse and rode of deep into the forest towards their new home. Adventure one had been ticked of the list.
