"Please Dad."

"No"

"Please"

"No you didn't want the last one we had"

"I promise I'll want this one"

"No Jason"

"I'll want it if I choose it"

"You chose the last one"

"No I didn't. You dad"

It was the same as every Saturday. Jason would beg Marvin the whole day if they could have a dog. And he answer was no every time. Jason used to want one so he had someone to be with while he was still grieving the loss of Whizzer. But Marvin said he wouldn't be able to look after it properly while Jason wasn't with him. But now, Jason just wants one now.

Marvin could hear Whizzers answer now. He won't give up until he gets one.

Marvin sighed and looked down at the teenager who was smiling up at him. "Fine. Grab your coat"

"Wooooo" Jason grabbed his coat of the sofa and dragged his dad out the door. It then dawned on him. He hadn't got out anywhere with his dad in a year.

The drive to the shelter felt like forever to Jason. The whole journey Jason could keep still. He danced and sang along to the music to try and pass time. They were five minutes away and Jason turned to look at his father. He was silently crying, again.

Marvin hadn't been outside for awhile. He began to forget what the outside world was like. The last time he was in the car he was driving home from Whizzers funeral. Everything he felt cane rushing back and Marvin remembered why he hadn't left the house in so long.

"It's okay dad. I know how you feel. I'm happy you aren't stuck in the house for once though." Jason smiled and Marvin chuckled. He pulled up the car park and wiped his eyes.

"Let's go get the dog."

~~ 2 hours later ~~

Marvin had made the worst decision ever by agreeing to get a dog. He thought they would go in, Jason would pick a dog they'd buy it and be out of there. He didn't expect Jason to be writing down the pros and cons for each dog.

"Sir." One of the workers came up to him "We close soon. I'd advise you to hurry you child up."

"Believe me" Marvin laughed "I've been trying."

"Can I ask you why your getting a dog?" The worker smiled.

"He wanted one ever since my partner died. But we both weren't in the right place to look after it. He did have a dog at his moms house, but he never liked it. And today I finally gave in" Marvin explained.

"Oh I see. I'm sorry about your partner. I'm sure he watching over you. What was there name?" They pair sat on the chairs in the corner, they knew Jason would be here till it closed.

"His name was Whizzer."

"Whizzer Brown?" He asked.

"Yes. Did you know him?"

"Wait here" he got up and quickly ran to the back. He returned minuets with an Australian Shepherd.

"He said you'd be in one day and told me to keep this dog back for you. He came to visit him everyday. When he stopped coming we knew something was wrong and so did the dog." The worker smiled.

"Jason!" Marvin shouted. Jason turned round and gasped as he saw the dog next to the worker.

He ran over and sat in front of the dog. The dog sat and watched him. Jason smiled and the dog wagged it's tail. It stood up and went and sat on Jason's lap.

"Dad can we g..."

"Yes Jason. We can"

The worker grabbed some paper for Marvin to sign. And Jason attached a new lead he brought to the dogs collar.

"Whizzer already paid for him." The worker added as Marvin reached for his pocket. The two men shook hands.

When they arrived home. The dog immediately ran upstairs and sat on Marvin's bed. Jason laughed and Marvin sighed. The dog moved to the left side of the bed. Whizzer's side. Marvin felt his heart ache. The dog sniffed the pillow and started whimpering. He jumped off and went to the wardrobe. He managed to get it open.

Marvin hadn't got round to cleaning out any of Whizzer's clothes. He stood and watched and the dog got Whizzer's mint green shirt off a hanger. The dog returned to the bed and managed to lay down with the shirt on top of him. Marvin's smiled. The dog knew Whizzer was supposed to be there. Marvin sat on the bed next to the dog.

Jason came in shortly after. "I know what I'm going to call him."

"And what's that?" Marvin asked as he stroked the dog.

"Whizz. I want to name him after Whizzer." Jason smiled as he started to cry.

Marvin pouted slightly before he started crying. He beckoned Jason over. Jason went and sat next to his dad. Whizz looked up at the two. He stood up and nuzzled his way in between the two of them. Marvin looked down at Whizz. The dog lifted his head slightly and licked Marvin's face. The pair chuckled at the dog. Marvin looked next to him at the picture of him and Whizzer.

He heard Whizzer's voice again. He's the new me. He'll love you both just as much. I love you Marvin.

A/N I just made myself sad.
