I Never Wanted To Love You (or did I...)

Switched Roles // Whizzvin

A/N I started writing this while listening to You Give Love A Bad Name. Feel like that's something you should know.

What if Falsettos ended differently? If in some universe it was switched? What if Marvin died first...

Whizzer watched proudly at the people in front of him. His family. Charlotte was helping Marvin. Cordelia was setting up with Trina. Trina was holding together for Jason. Mendel was keeping Jason out the way. And Marvin, well Whizzer knew he was holding on. He could see the strength slowly flooding out. As much as it broke him, he had to stay strong for the people he loved the most.

He smiled when Trina walked over and wrapped her arms around him.

"If you'd told me all those year ago we'd be standing here. You and I rely on each other. I think I would of laughed" Trina chuckled softly.

"I know. We've come a long way since then. I just wish it wasn't like this." Whizzer sighed.

"Hey," Trina said as she pulled away. She placed her hand on the side of his face and rubbed his cheek lightly "We aren't going anywhere now. You're family. "

Whizzer smiled. He pulled her into another hug and softly cried into her shoulder  "I only just got him back. And he's leaving me again"

Trina kept quiet. She didn't know what to say. He was feeling a different kind of pain to her. Of course Trina still loved Marvin, but it was more platonic than it used to be. Yes she was broken and she wanted more time for her family to be together. But she'd had years and years with Marvin. Whizzer, he hadn't. There was so much more they could've done. But it was all being blown away.

"Come on, you can get through this." Trina reassured, "everything will be alright"

As the bar mitzvah went ahead, Whizzer could feel Marvin leaning on him more and more.

"Just a few minutes more Marv. Then you can go." Whizzer whispered.

"I don't want to Whizz. I want to stay" Marvin croaked back.

"I know you do, I want you to stay too. But your in pain. If loosing you means you'll be peaceful and you won't be in pain, then it's a risk I'm willing to take."

"I love you Whiz."

"I love you too."

Marvin shuffled slightly towards Jason. He placed a hand on his sons shoulder and smiled, "Thank you son, I love you."

Jason went pale. He knew what this meant, "I love you too dad. Don't worry, I'll look after Whizzer"

And that's when Marvin fell onto Whizzer. Charlotte ran over and Trina ushered everyone out of the room.

"Place him on the bed." Charlotte said to Whizzer, he did as instructed.

"Marvin, it's okay. We'll be fine." Whizzer sobbed.

Charlotte looked at Whizzer and frowned, "I'll give you two some privacy."

"I'm sorry Whizzer." Marvin chocked.

"Ssh Marvin. Save your breath."

"I really am sorry though Whiz."

"Just rest Marvin."

"Sorry."

"Marvin Coleman, if you apologise one more time I'll..."

"You'll what? kill me" Marvin said with a slight chuckle.

"Please don't make you're last words stupid one." Whizzer replies and the pair laughed.

"I love you to the moon and back Whizzer."

"I love you more Marvin." Whizzer sobbed.

"I promise you Whizzer, I'll never be to far away."

"I know. Let's talk about something else Marv. Take our mind off things."

There was no answer.

"Marvin. Marvin please." Whizzer begged as he lightly shook Marvin.

There was nothing. He'd gone.

"Oh. Oh okay. I-er-okay. I-I love you. I guess I'll see you soon" Whizzer whimpered.

He stood up and waited for a response, he knew that one would never come.

The small group looked up as the heard the door clicking shut.

"Whizzer?" Trina asked.

He dropped to the floor. Jason ran over and clung onto him. Whizzer sat up and stared at into Jason's eyes. "I'm so sorry bud."

"I'm sorry too." Jason cried and the two held each other close.

Trina walked over and sat next to them. She rubbed her sons back as she clung onto Whizzers arm. Mendel held Cordelia while Charlotte went to grab more doctors so they could finish their job.

When she walked into the rubbed she sucked in a breath. Her eyes filled with tears and she began to shake.

"Charlotte, if you need to step out for this one that's completely understandable" one of the other doctors said.

"No. No I need to do this. Not just for Marvin but for Whizzer too."
