Missing You

It's time like these that you realise what you had with someone, the moments of laying all alone in bed and over thinking every last thing over and over until you can't get them out your head. If I was to tell a stranger about my journey with Colby, they might have something to say about the short time that we've had our romance. But, I feel like I've know him all my life, as cliche as that is.

I'm taken from my thoughts by the curtains being ripped open, Rose looks down to me. "Aliyah Michaelson! I'm done with this, it's Friday! Get up." She crosses her arms. I fight back a laugh as I push myself up in bed. Roselyn has been telling me to give Colby a call all week but I can't get the Brennen thing out my head, it's pretty fucked up. But I think with it almost being a week, I'll finally do it today.

"Okay." I say, climbing out of bed I grab my toiletry bag and head for the showers, Rose seems surprised but my sudden change in attitude, but it is needed.

I text Colby and tell him I'd meet him at the burger shack, luckily he is working today. The drive along isn't too long and I park my car at the skatepark, taking a look in my mirror before getting out. I'm rocking some blue jeans and a flowery blouse, I also put some makeup on for a change.

"Hey." I mutter as I reach the shack, Colby turns to me and I instantly see the pain in his eyes. He looks like he hasn't slept since..maybe since the beach. "Hi, take a seat I'll bring you over some chilli fries." He points towards some chairs that are located next to the shack, I hesitate but decide to sit.

"I'm really grateful that you want to talk." He says, placing the fries down before taking a seat in front of me. I smile sympathetically at him, the bags under his eyes are making any confrontation extremely difficult. "I needed to, this made me realise how much I like you..the space." I put a fry in my mouth, watching Colby's reaction. He seems speechless.

"I-I wasn't expecting you to say that, I mean, in the last hour I really prepared myself for you to tell me we were done." Colby says, dragging a hand through his hair. "No.. What you told me was completely fucked up but I..I don't want to lose you over someone else, you told me you cut all ties and I need to trust that, even if it's hard." I'm being honest, but the trust will have to be earned.

"Really?" His voice croaks, I nod and continue to eat my fries, he watches intently but I can tell his mind is full with thoughts.

"I haven't slept" I look at him, nodding "I can see, you look exhausted." He nods. "What happens now?" He asks, looking at me. I shrug, "I want to go back to the way things were, but no more lies. If you lie again, I'll not come back." I say stern, he nods and stands to his feet, coming to my side of the table he reaches down and crashes his lips to mine. The familiar feeling makes me feel so safe.

"I promise. No more lies." He says, both of his hands on the side of my face. I lift a brow "I hope so."

The more I think about the situation, the more I realise he done the best by me by leaving Brennen's group. I just hope it was the right decision for both our sakes, but I'll be there for him no matter what. "Do you have class?" Colby asks as he sits back down and takes one of my fries. "Yeah I should get going, I have to start writing up my project report. I can't believe the first semester is almost over." I stand to my feet, "The one about me?" He asks, looking up at me. I nod.

"Yeah, I think I know what I'm going to do with it." I smile, "You can finish those." He nods. I peck his check before heading back off in the direction of my car. A weight definitely has been lifted off my shoulders, and now I feel like I can concentrate on my project.

The drive back doesn't take long, luckily I have my things I need in class in the trunk, so I grab those and head into the lecture hall. The afternoon class on a Friday is my favourite, it's usually pretty chill and everyone is ready for the weekend. I spot Jake straight away and take a seat just as Professor Cowden begins to speak.

"Good Afternoon everyone. It's almost time for your first semester assignment to come to an end! Five weeks. I'd just like to remind you all, the presentation of this can be done in vocal or physical form. You may even want to present your results in a story form! Just remember guys this is a big part of your final grade so if you don't have enough, start grinding the sessions! Any questions." I stick my hand into the air.

"Aliyah, yes." He points to me. "What do you mean by story form? Like a re-enactment?" I question, he nods his head. "Yeah, so for example if you have someone with an eating disorder, you may want to talk in third person about the events that lead up to that right through to therapy, of course names are not needed." I nod, opening my note book I scribble down The Sad Little Boy.
