⚠️ - this ended up in a way darker place than i expected. mentions conversion therapy, unsupportive parents, jail, police raids, homophobia, and obviously some language.

Lewis stood at the front door as his parents left, faking a cheery smile as he waved goodbye. Then, as soon as the car was out of sight, he left as well, heading towards the other side of town.

The walk gave him time to think, though that went awry when he bumped into someone. They automatically grabbed his arm, and he flinched, earning himself a familiar laugh.

"Head in the clouds?"

"Absolutely." A real smile graced his lips then, and it took all the common sense and self control he had to stop himself from reaching out for the other man's hand. "My parents just left, Logan. I was heading to see you."

Logan smiled back fondly, glancing around to see if anyone was listening in before softly telling him, "That's a strange coincidence. I was heading to see you."

That's when Lewis noticed the bag slung over Logan's shoulder, the same one he used every time he stayed over. "I'm glad I bumped into you, then."

A silent agreement, they turned around and headed back to Lewis' house. And yet again, Lewis just wished he was able to hold Logan's hand in public.

——

Even though he knew there was no way anyone would be able to see into the windows of his room, Lewis still made sure the curtains were drawn closed and the door locked before giving Logan a lingering kiss and sitting next to him.

"I pretended to be sick to avoid going on this trip," he confessed, "I wanted a break from my father, and I really didn't want to be away for a month."

"I'm glad you stayed. I'd miss you if you left for that long." Logan carefully brushed a few wisps of hair behind the smaller man's ear.

"I'd miss you more," Lewis replied. Then, his eyes lit up as he said, "I finally played that bit of piano for my mother before she left. I told her that my very talented friend taught me, and promised he'd keep teaching me."

"What else did you tell her about me?" He asked amusedly.

Lewis smiled yet again. "I told her that I'd invite him to stay while they were gone. I feel safer if there's someone here with me, and this saves Mother from worrying so badly. And it means that you'll have an excuse to be here when they come home."

"You're safe with me. I promise."

——

"Do you think this will be what it's like when we've ran away?" Lewis asked, unbuttoning his shirt.

Logan paused after setting his shoes on the floor. "It'll be even better. We won't have to worry about your parents... or my landlord... or anyone else." He gently moved Lewis' hands out of the way and pushed the shirt from his shoulders. "We'll be alone together, and it'll be perfect."

He hummed in agreement, taking his shirt and folding it neatly before setting it on his desk. Then, he gently pulled on the hem of Logan's sweater, until he got the hint and actually took it off. "I'll plant a garden or at least some potted plants for inside, and I'll make sure we've got a piano. Then, we'll get a lot of books and everything we need, and we can invite Ronnie to come stay with us."
