a sleep related thing, add on for gods & monsters~

Lewis really wasn't expecting his daughter to climb into bed with him. Alex was gone, some impromptu middle of the night meeting between him, Logan, and Ezra, leaving Lewis at home with Antheia.

Her soft whimpering was what woke Lewis up. He clicked on the lamp, sitting up and immediately drawing the young girl (and her favorite teddy bear) into his lap to rock her back and forth. "What's wrong, Ant? Bad dreams?"

She nodded, shoving her hair back from her face before curling further into him. "Where's Dad?"

"He's with Uncle Logan. He's okay, honey, I talked to him just a couple hours ago." Lewis tried his best to soothe her, but he knew what was coming. She tended to fight against him, but Alex could get her back to sleep without a problem.

"I wanna call him," Antheia decided, reaching out for Lewis' phone.

He sighed, caving and picking up his phone from the nightstand. "He might be busy."

"I'm important. He'll stop for me," she said, giving him a decisive look.

He hit the Facetime button on Alex's contact (which, in case you wanted to know, was just labeled "💕"), then handed the phone to his daughter. "Let me talk first, please."

Again, she nodded, holding out the phone so both of them were in frame. Alex picked up a few moments later, Logan beside him, both of them looking exhausted. "I had a feeling that it was Thea," Logan smiled, patting Alex's shoulder before walking away. "You owe me ten dollars."

Lewis just smiled back and shook his head. "Ant had a bad dream and wanted to talk to you, 'Lex. I tried, but..."

"I've always got time for my baby. Do you want to tell me about it or do you just want me to talk to you?" Alex asked, directing the question towards his daughter.

Antheia shook her head, her teddy bear clutched tightly in her arms. "Just talk."

"Well..." Alex dropped his voice, whispering like this was some big secret. "I have something super important I need you to do, and I don't trust anyone else to do it. Think you're up for it?"

She nodded, giving him a quick thumbs up before he continued speaking. "Your other dad doesn't sleep very good if I'm not there. Do you think you can stay there with him? And when you two wake up, I'll be home. I'll even make pancakes for breakfast or something."

"I can try!"

"That's all I ask, honey. I gotta get back to my meeting, but... I love you. See you in the morning!"

"See ya!" She replied, ending the call before Lewis even had the chance to say anything else. She gave him his phone, then wriggled her way underneath the blankets on Alex's side of the bed. "Thank you."

"You don't have to thank me, sweet pea. That's what I'm here for." Lewis got up to plug in the nightlight he kept for these occasions, before getting back into bed and clicking the lamp off again. "Now let's go back to sleep."

an alex & his sister thing ~

Despite all of their differences, Alex still loved his sister a lot. That being said, she still got on his fucking nerves a lot.

This specific instance came the day he changed his Facebook status to "In A Relationship". He was at a thrift shop, hunting for more old band shirts (because a guy can never have too many Misfits or Nirvana or Joy Division shirts), when his phone rang and interrupted 'Californication' by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The name on the display read "annoying lil sis", causing him to audibly sigh before clicking the button on his earbuds. "What do you want?"

"Jesus, bro, not even a hello? Anyway... who the hell are you dating and why is there a guy commenting hearts on your Instagram photos?"

"Why should I tell you? You never tell me anything."

"C'mon, dude, you disappeared for a few years and I didn't know if you were even still alive, forgive me for taking a while to register that you're back in my life. And I'll spill if you do."

"I'll call you later, when I'm back home. Better get your notebook ready, I know how you are, sis."

- an au vaguely based on we're in love by badflower
it'd be maybe a college au.
i like the roommate situation from the last college thing with logan, harry, ronnie, and lewis so

it'd be logan and ronnie convincing lewis to let ronnie dress him up in drag, and then logan, upon seeing the final product, bets lewis that he'd be able to get a guy's number no problem. lewis disagrees, but makes the bet (bc hey, twenty dollars is a lot of money for a broke college kid) and goes out to a bar with his roommates.

while they're there, a guy (aka alex) comes up and starts talking to and flirting with lewis, and at the end of the night, lewis has a new number in his phone and a new crush to daydream about. the only issue is that alex still believes lewis is a girl named liatris.

fun backstory stuff for alex's family (and characters associated with hds)

- alex disappeared for like five years while he was getting clean
- i'm talking no contact with family at all and they all assumed he either overdosed in a gutter or got murdered and dumped in the guyandotte river
- but it was literally just he moved?? his family environment is what got him into illegal substances so he needed to get away

- he still doesn't talk to his parents bc they don't approve of his "lifestyle choices" (aka liking guys) but he finally contacted his younger sister again.
- aubrey is a year younger than alex (for a bit of reference ig?? it puts her two years older than lewis)

- the stupidest thought i had regarding aubrey and the other two characters (micah and zach) was that aubrey's either:
a) dating both of them and they don't know about the other
or b) they're all in a relationship just for the hell of it

( and if you remember hds the endgame relationships were gonna be alex and zach (at that time his name was jack) and aubrey and micah (at that point her name was skylie) )
