The more Ezra fought against the net, the tighter it wound around him, eventually rendering him immobile. No one tried to free him.

Finally, after a few long, agonizing minutes, Logan crossed the room and crouched down by Ezra's head. "So... how about we call a truce, and work together, as equals, to make sure these guys don't destroy the world?"

"Fuck off."

"Hey now. I can leave you in the net, or you can agree and I'll have Caleb get you out. What do you say?"

Another pause, then Ezra sighed loudly. "Fine. I accept."

Logan smiled and patted his chest before getting up. "Good choice." He gave a thumbs up to Caleb, who pressed a couple buttons on the remote he held, which caused the net to fall apart and disintegrate.

Logan was still facing away when Alex offered his hand to help Ezra up, not noticing the dagger in the war god's hand until it was too late. In a smooth motion, Ezra got up and stabbed Alex, catching him in the right shoulder. "Don't let your guard down, fucker," he spat, pulling the blade out and stalking away.

Of course, the wound just hurt, it wouldn't kill him, although Lewis might try when he found out. He gently touched his shoulder, almost mesmerized by the fact his hand came away gold instead of red.

There were obvious reasons why no one noticed the stabbing as it happened. Both sides had dissolved into whispers and private conversations, and Alex didn't cry out like he normally would've. The whole 'don't show weakness' thing, you know.

Finally, Alex decided to clear his throat. "Hey... Logan? How much you wanna bet Lew's gonna lose his goddamn mind when I come home?"

Logan's head turned, and within a couple seconds, he made Alex lie down on the floor. "What did you even do?"

"I kicked him."

Logan froze, bandages he'd materialized out of nowhere in his hand. "You're fucking stupid. I was going to fully heal that for you so Lewis wouldn't find out but you're shit out of luck."

When Alex finally went home later that day, Lewis was waiting for him at the door. "Do I not get a casual text this time? Something like 'hi honey I got  stabbed for being dumb but I'm okay lol'?"

Alex winced. "Logan called, didn't he?"

Lewis nodded, coming close enough that Alex's instincts told him to flinch. Instead, Lewis hugged him close, careful to avoid his shoulder. Then, softly, he said, "You're sleeping on the couch tonight."

Logan and Ezra leading together worked for about a week. After that, things started to fall apart because they couldn't agree on anything. This wasn't working out as well as he'd hoped. They'd have to find a third person, and mirror one of the things that worked from before.

He thought it over for a long time, like at least five minutes. And in that time, he made his decision.

It was after a council meeting, when most of the gods were still hanging around. Some had already came up and talked to him about being the third, but he told them all he'd already made a decision.
