[ wow!! let's go

Lewis had just read the the first page of his mom's notebook when Alex pulled into the driveway.

A spark of hope lit in his chest as he read over the instructions, enough so that as soon as Alex walked in the door, Lewis was prepared to explain everything. That is, until he got sidetracked by the bouquet of roses his husband brought home.

Alex didn't notice his confusion, giving him a quick kiss before handing over the flowers. "Happy anniversary, honey."

Fuck. With all this bullshit going on, he'd forgotten about it. He echoed the words, setting the roses down on the counter to hug Alex, murmuring, "I gotta tell you a couple things, one's really weird but really important."

"What's up?"

"First off, I'm sorry but I forgot about our anniversary because I've had a super bad week, but that's really no excuse. The second... Promise not to call me crazy and send me to an asylum?"

Alex made an 'X' over his heart. "Promise. I wouldn't ever send you away."

"Well..."

Lewis then went on to explain just the basics: the Greek gods were real, his mom was Persephone, and she just passed the role on to him and disappeared. In a softer voice, he detailed the information his mom had given him as a last gift, a way that Alex could join this fucked up world.

And Alex, being the fucking saint he was, agreed to it immediately.

While Lewis and Alex were making plans, Logan was having a horrible time in what he learned to be part of Olympus.

They were no closer to figuring out new leadership, although there seemed to be two clear factions among them. Logan's group, which included himself, Harry, Lewis, the Poseidon replacement, and the Hecate one, among others.

Ezra's 'little' group, consisting of Ezra, Ronnie (ouch), Chase, Bailey (double ouch), the Hades replacement, and the Artemis one (triple ouch), and obviously a hodgepodge of others, seemed to be gaining traction rather quickly.

Logan looked at his group, a small sigh escaping before he introduced himself. Sierra, the Hecate replacement, laughed shortly. "I know who you are, I used to listen to your band in high school."

He offered her a smile, then gestured towards her. She got the hint, giving the group a half-smile as she said, "Name's Sierra Green. Daughter of Hecate. My boyfriend is around here somewhere, he's the replacement for the snow goddess."

Harry went next, and, upon noticing that one of the girls seemed to be checking Logan out (which was something that jumpstarted that jealous side), he casually slipped in the fact they were married.

"You can call me Ellie. I'm your new Poseidon, if you couldn't tell from the puddle and the eyes," the other girl said, cracking a slight smile. Logan then took the liberty of explaining Lewis, telling them just the basics about his friend, and that said friend's husband wasn't a part of this.

A few others joined their side after a while, but the majority seemed to be drifting over towards Ezra and Chase, but that could've partially been because Chase kept on giving out alcohol, trying to turn it into a party. Bailey looked severely uncomfortable, enough that he finally walked over to talk to Logan.

"I tried to stop her, but she wouldn't listen," he told Logan, glancing back at his best friend. "She's so stupid most of the time."

"You can't help it. Dionysus is also a god of madness, so just be careful, buddy." Logan offered him a hopefully assuring smile. "We need to figure out three new leaders. Any suggestions?"

A blush bloomed on Bailey's face, although with the rainbows surrounding him, it was kind of hard to tell. "Well... Um, obviously I'd say you but Ezra's got it in his head that he's gonna be the leader and since Ronnie really wants nothing to do with that at this point, Chase is gonna help him, and since someone's gotta keep an eye on her, I gotta stay with them."

"I shouldn't have to tell you this, but Ezra is bad news. Maybe you could... I don't know... keep an eye on him for me?" Logan said, shrugging. "I'll give you my phone number so you can keep me updated."

"Deal!" He responded instantly, eyes wide. And yeah, maybe exploiting a fan like this wasn't exactly right, but...

Meanwhile, Harry walked around, surveying this collection of amateurs. People with powers for the first time, people who had them for their entire lives. Once that looked semi-okay with this, and ones that looked terrified.

Out of the confused ones, one in particular caught his eye. A small boy, sitting all by himself, a quiver of almost cartoon-ish heart-tipped arrows spilled out beside him. And yeah. Something about the scene just tugged on Harry's heartstrings, so he joined the boy to talk.

——

Over on the other side, Chase was having a great time. She didn't even feel guilty about breaking a promise to Ronnie and Bailey, instead, she was drinking and generally dancing around and having a good time.

She met a few of the others who had no clue what they were doing here. Ben, the new Hades, a borderline emo guy barely out of his teens. Juniper, the new Artemis, bright colors to rival Bailey's. Ari, Thanatos, a teen girl with blonde roots clearly showing she didn't have natural dark hair.

(Chase may or may not have given the teenager alcohol. Oops.)

She eventually sidled up to Ezra, her normal dumb grin on full display. "So. You wanna be the new king of the gods?"

"I mean..." He gestured towards a corner of the room, where the Zeus replacement kept accidentally shocking himself. "We can't rely on him."

She looked around the room, zeroing in on Logan and making a wide sweeping gesture. "People are gonna want him. And for some reason, I don't think you're gonna wanna work with him."

"Don't be stupid. I think we need to do things differently than the gods before, and that means we need a different approach. So stop drinking because we've got work to do."
