don't hear me by dan keyes has major lewis vibes and yeah so here's this—

-

It really wasn't a normal day unless Lewis was singing to himself.

While he watered his plants, made lunch, cleaned; even when he was just relaxing. A playlist was constantly on over the sound system, but there was a haunting lack of With Love songs. (Just because he preferred to listen to Logan's voice through earbuds, honestly.)

Over the sound of the music and water running in the sink, he didn't heard the front door open. He still sang along to a newer song that one of his acquaintances in the industry put out, continuing to wash the dishes that'd been piling up for a couple days.

So, of course, when the arms slid around his waist, his singing morphed into a startled gasp, dropping the handful of silverware back into the soapy water. Logan couldn't help but laugh, kissing the top of Lewis' head. "Sorry, I just let myself in. Thought you would've heard me."

"Nah. I was busy, couldn't hear you over the sink or my own voice," Lewis told him. "Let me finish cleaning up, okay?"

"Do what you have to do. Pretend I'm not here." Logan let go, moving to sit on the counter instead of on one of the many actual seats. "Keep singing."

The song switched, from the upbeat ukulele tune before to a more retro-sounding track with a lot of synth. Lewis busied himself with wiping up water he'd splashed on the countertop around the sink, clearly thinking about it.

"I dunno..." Was he blushing, or was it the heat from the dishwater that made his face so pink? He ended up sighing, then said, "This is 'Don't Hear Me' by one of the guys that opened for us last tour."

He began to sing along softly, always keeping his face turned away from Logan. His embarrassment was irrational, because they'd heard each other sing countless times before, but there was something infinitely more intimidating when they weren't on stage or working on a song of their own.

When the song was over, Lewis grabbed Logan's hands and pulled him off the counter and into the living room. (Which, Lewis pulling Logan was a giant joke, it was always Lewis just tugging on him and Logan being nice and following.)

"Y'know, that last party we went to, I felt like I was really missing out," Lewis admitted, letting go to pick up his phone and change the song.

Logan smiled fondly, easily looking at the phone screen over his shoulder. "And why's that?"

"'Cuz, the few times a slow song came on, we couldn't really... y'know, dance... without everyone finding out." He settled on a playlist, then held the phone up for Logan to pick a track.

Logan took the phone, and after a few moments, he found a song and by the time he set the phone down, it started playing.

Lewis looked confused for a second, but as soon as Logan pulled him closer, he asked, "What song is this? It wasn't in the playlist."

Logan grinned, letting his hands rest at Lewis' waist. "It's by Halsey. 'Is There Somewhere'. It reminds me of you."

If his face wasn't red before, it definitely was now. His arms settled around Logan's neck, his head on the younger man's shoulder as they swayed.

It was definitely nice. Lewis understood what he'd been missing out on, and how lucky those other people who could be open about their relationships were. But it was safer to hide.
