It's late.

Lewis should've been home hours ago, but his friend Alex had been late to meet up. They'd scrounged around for whatever change they could find, as well as any glass bottles, but found practically nothing. They parted ways with a quick hug, Alex going back to his grandparents' house in town, and Lewis heading home to the farm.

It's cold, Lewis notes, unnaturally so for this time of year. It's enough that he wraps his arms around himself. If not for the fact his brother would be worried sick, he'd probably go to Alex's for the night.

He's almost home, just a house or two away (which translates to about a quarter of a mile), when the hair on the back of his neck stands up. It's not unusual, so he tries to shake off the feeling.

Before he really registers it, there's a person beside him, a tall guy with a pleasant voice, asking, "Is there any way you could help me?"

Now, despite being late getting home, Lewis had been raised to help whoever asked. So of course, he followed this handsome stranger, even though the term 'stranger danger' should still be applied in small town America.

Lewis doesn't even register the other presences until it's too late. The last thing he sees is the frown on the guy's face.

This existence isn't too bad. It took Lewis a long time to get acclimated, and he still often waits until his throat is burning and feels like sandpaper before he finally gives in to the bloodlust.

Logan makes things easier. The handsome stranger, the last person he saw while human, helped him so much those first years, and continues to help him even now, literally six decades later.

They're playing a game of Monopoly with Ezra, all parties bored out of their minds, but their 'parents' wanted them all in the same place. 'Parents' obviously meaning the vampires that made them, and tried to condition them to call them 'mother' and 'father'. (Ezra learned their real names, and when they aren't there, they're called Elizabeth and Victor.)

They're about halfway into the game, Lewis practically bankrupt and giving all his property to Logan, when the door to their lounge area slams open. Their 'mother' sweeps into the room, the grin on her lips exposing her fangs, followed by their 'father', carrying a limp body over his shoulder.

He gently lays the person on the couch, looking at each boy in turn as he tells them, "Boys... We've finally got you a sister. Be gentle with her."

"When she wakes up, we expect you to be on your best behavior. Start teaching her as soon as possible. We'll get her room ready in the meantime," 'Mother' says, gliding over and adjusting the collar of Lewis' shirt, before moving on to straighten Logan's unruly hair.

Lewis casts a panicked glance towards Ezra, who really looks indifferent. Ezra doesn't seem to care about much. Eighty years with these psychopaths seems to have taken its toll on him.

"Of course, mother," Ezra answers, picking up his pieces from the game and putting them back in the box. "I'll go get her a meal, while Logan and Lewis watch over her. She's in good hands."
