Chapter 12

I woke up the next morning to my phone ringing.

"Hello?" I said groggily.

"Hey, it's me, Elliot. We have a snow day, so I just wanted to tell you." He said into the phone.

"Ok." I said while rubbing my eyes. "So what's up? Did you tell your mom yet?"

"Yeah, I told her this morning. She wanted me to thank you." He stated.

"No problem." I yawned.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you. Go back to bed." He laughed.

"Ok." I said as I let my eyes close.

I was awoken to the sound of my doorbell. I quickly brushed my teeth and hair and then ran down the stairs. I opened the door to see Elliot. He had his back towards me.

"Elliot? What's up?" I asked as I turned him around. I saw a bruise starting to form on his jaw. "What the hell happened?" I screeched.

"I just needed to get away for a while." He said as he walked into my house.

"Ok, but what happened?" I asked as I sat on my couch next to him. He pulled my head to his chest.

"Let's just relax for a little bit." He mumbled.

I looked up to his eyes, and I moved his hair out of his face. His dark hair was wet from the snow.

"Ok." I said. He knew that he could tell me anything, and I just needed to wait for him to tell me.

I quickly got up, so I could put a movie on. I didn't bother to pay attention to the title. I made my way back to the couch and cuddled next to Elliot. I could tell that something happened because for one, his face, and two, the way he acted.

He seemed distant, and that worried me. After the movie was over, we sat in silence. It was killing me that he wasn't talking.

"Talk to me Elliot." I told him.

"About what? You obviously know what happened!" he snapped. Jeez, I wasn't expecting that. I felt my anger boiling. I stood up.

"I was just trying to help. You don't have to yell at me." I responded dryly. "If you're gonna act like that, then maybe you should leave." I said while not looking at him. I turned away, and I heard him get up. He walked out of my house.

I wanted to go get him and tell him to come back, but my pride wouldn't allow it. I felt wet tears brimming on my eyes. Dammit, I shouldn't have told him to leave. What if something worse was waiting for him when he got home?

He came to me because he trusted me, and I kicked him out. I really was a horrible person.

I tried calling him, but he wouldn't answer. I would talk to him tomorrow if we didn't have another snow day. I tried to calm myself down, but it was no use. I eventually fell asleep, but I did not dream.
