Chapter 47

Saturday morning, Elliot called me.

“You can’t come over today.” He told me.

“Is everything ok?” I asked worried.

“Yeah, Joe’s family is over to celebrate.” He stated.

“Celebrate?” I asked confused.

“It’s like a small baby shower. Don’t worry though, he won’t do anything today. He likes his family to think that we are the perfect family.” He snorted. “We aren’t even close.”

“Have fun.” I said.

“Yeah, right.” He said. I laughed and hung up the phone.

At least he was going to be ok for today. I let out a sigh of relief, and I did something that I hadn’t been able to do in a while.

I relaxed.

I sat on the couch, kicked up my feet, and I actually relaxed. It felt good knowing that Elliot was safe for now.

The whole day, I did nothing but relax.

When I went over to his house on Sunday, I felt great. I walked into his house and greeted Carol. I could tell she was in a happy mood as well. I casually walked up the steps and into Elliot’s room.

He was walking around, cleaning his room. At least he was walking again.

“Hey.” I said as I walked over to him.

“Hey.” He said as he slung his arm over me.

“So how was it?” I asked.

“Boring, but I would take it over a regular day any day.” he shrugged.

“I would too. I finally relaxed knowing that you were going to be ok.” I said as I kissed him on the cheek.

“That’s good. You’ve been so wired up lately.” He said.

“I wonder why?” I rolled my eyes.

I flopped on his bed and stared at the ceiling. He came and sat down next to me. He started playing with my hair. Normally I hated it when anyone messed with my hair, but with Elliot, I didn’t mind.

“Are you going to be able to go to school tomorrow?” I asked.

“Probably, it’s not that bad anymore.” He said with a shrug. I turned onto my stomach.

“Maybe you shouldn’t come over to my house anymore.” I suggested. He sighed.

“Like I said, I’m not gonna let this come between us. I don’t care what he does to me. Besides, it would get boring staying up here all the time.” He said as he continued to play with my hair.

“It won’t get boring, trust me.” I said with a smile.

“Oh really?” He asked with a smirk. I nodded.
