Chapter 27

I woke up on Tuesday without a headache. I was finally starting to feel better. I hopped in the shower, got dressed, and went into the kitchen. My mom was standing there.

"Why are you outta bed?" she said with a stern voice.

"Mom, I'm fine, seriously. I have no headache, and I feel great." I reassured her.

"Fine, but I don't want you swimming. You can go tan or whatever, but no swimming." She said. I ran up to her and gave her a kiss.

"Love you mom." I told her.

"I love you too." She responded.

I was already in a white bikini, in hopes that my mother would let me out of the suite. I grabbed my towel and my sunglasses. I made sure my mom rubbed the sunscreen on my back because I didn't want Elliot to do it.

I walked out of the hotel to see the boys sitting on towels. I carefully snuck up behind them. I was going to scare them, but then I started eavesdropping.

"She is acting strange." Alex said.

"Yeah, I know, and it's killing me that she won't tell me. It's almost like she doesn't trust me." Elliot said with a sigh. I furrowed my eyebrows to try and listen.

"Or maybe it has something to do with you, and she is embarrassed or something." Alex shrugged. "I seriously have no idea about this girl stuff. Why do you think I don't have a girlfriend?" Elliot laughed at Alex.

"You don't have a girlfriend because you don't want to be tied down. Or at least that's what you say." Elliot laughed.

"Whatever." Alex huffed.

I took this time to walk all the way over to them and to sit in between them.

"Paige, why are you out here?" Elliot said frantically.

"My mom said it was ok. I just can't swim." I shrugged his comment off. "I feel fine."

"You sure?" Alex asked with a concerned voice.

"Yup, I felt like a vampire being stuck up in that suite." I laughed.

"You have gotten pale." Alex joked, and I slapped him. "You little-"

"Hey, I'm injured; you can't touch me." I stuck my tongue out at him.

"You're lucky." He teased.

I spread out my towel and laid on my back. I put my earphones in and started listening to music. I could feel Elliot's eyes on me. I didn't know what they were looking at, and I started to feel self-conscious. I was never like that with anyone else.

The sun felt so warm on my skin, and I could feel some sweat forming. Eww, I hated sweat. I grabbed the corner of Alex's towel and wiped my brow. I started to sing a little to the music. My cheeks instantly turned red when I remembered where I was.

"I love that song." Alex mocked me.

"Oh, shut up." I slapped him again.

"Violent." He said while mocking hurt.

"Yeah, yeah." I said as I flipped onto my stomach.

Elliot was quiet the whole time, and it started to worry me. I had no idea what he was doing or thinking.

"Hi there." I heard an unfamiliar voice say.

I turned around to see two girls standing over Elliot and Alex. One had bleached blonde hair. It was obviously fake because her roots were showing. The other had short-brown hair.

"Hey." Alex said casually.

"Mind if we sit?" the fake blonde asked.

"Not at all." Alex smirked. I started gagging. Elliot remained silent.

"I'm Lexis, and this Megan." The blonde said.

"Alex, Elliot, and Paige." Alex pointed each of us out. The girls took one look at me and shot me disgusted looks.

Megan sat next to Alex and scooted real close to him. I could tell Alex was starting to feel uncomfortable. Lexis sat next to Elliot and started flirting with him. I could feel my blood boiling. I stood up and sat right in between Elliot and the whore.

"Excuse me." She said bitchily.

"You're excused." I smirked.

"Well how 'bout you-" she started but I cut her off.

"Well how 'bout you get your desperate ass outta here. Oh, and while you're at it, you may want to get a touch up; your roots are showing." I smirked at her bewildered face. She grabbed her friend and stalked off.

I walked back to my towel and continued to tan.

"Damn PJ." Alex whistled. "You told her." I smirked at his comment.

"I just saved you." I told him. "You owe me."

"Yeah, I owe you a lot of things. I'm gonna head back up to the suite. I'll see ya two later." He said as he grabbed his stuff and started for the hotel.

It was just me and Elliot. I hadn't heard him talk since I was eavesdropping on them. I looked at him, and he was just staring at the water. Do not go over there, you'll regret it, I told myself. I sighed; I knew I was going to go over there anyways.

"Hey." I said when I sat next to him.

"Hey." He replied still looking at the water.

"What are you thinking about." I asked.

"Nothing." He muttered. I sighed. I wasn't going to push him. I was keeping my secrets, and obviously, he wanted to keep his.

"Ok, I'm going back up." I told him as I grabbed my stuff. I took one last look at him before I made my way up to the suite.

He was sitting there with his hands on his knees. I could tell he was in deep thought, and it was killing me to know what it was about.

I walked back to the hotel and showered to get all the sweat off me. I changed into a cute, little sundress, and I lounged on the couch. Elliot walked in an hour later.

He went in our room to shower. I continued to watch TV. He came into the living room and sat on the couch across from me. I sighed. Dammit, I really missed how close we were, but I knew that this was the only way that my heart would not get played.
