Chapter 44

My phone started ringing on Wednesday morning.

“Hello?” I answered groggily.

“Hey honey, I heard what happened.” Nicole said on the other line. “I’m so sorry.”

“It’s ok.” I said through a yawn.

“Wow, you do sleep late.” She giggled.

“Rough week.” I mumbled as I rubbed my eyes. “I’m going back to sleep.”

“’K, bye.” She said, and I clicked the phone off.

I tried to go back to sleep, but it wouldn’t come. I was up, and I was going to have to deal with it. Fuck. My. Life.

I went into the shower, and I let the warm water bounce off my body. I got dressed, and I walked downstairs. I looked outside to see that the snow had finally melted. I grabbed my jacket and decided to go for a walk. I looked at my phone to see that it was already 2:00. I called Elliot, but he didn’t answer.

I walked through one of the parks, and I sat down on a bench. I looked at the trees, and I started kicking myself because I should have brought my sketchbook.

I sat on the bench for about ten minutes before I decided to walk back home. I stopped at Spill the Beans Coffee Shop on the way. I ordered a Vanilla Bean Frappuccino and walked back to my house.

I walked through my doors and tried to call Elliot again, but he wouldn’t answer. I sighed, but then I figured he was still sleeping. The rest of the night, I watched movies until I fell asleep. I was getting too dependent on movies, I thought to myself.
