Y/N's P.O.V.
You had managed to track down Jin. He answered all your questions and explained everything to you.
"Is that all? Or do you have another hundred set of questions to ask?" He sighed.
"No, I think I asked you everything I wanted to know."
"Good because I no longer have time for you. Now, finish your task and don't screw up."
He walked off and left you and Jungkook in the palace yard. You placed a finger up to your lips and thought. I haven't really explored the gardens before... I wonder how many they have.
"Are you going to stand there all day or are we going to the gardens?" Jungkook said eyeing you from the side.
You blushed and nodded your head. Without another moment of hesitation, you followed the path to the gardens.
"Agent JK, do you know how many gardens there are? Or which ones are the closest to the palace?"
At first you thought he was ignoring you but when you were about to ask again he spoke up.
"There are five gardens that are closest to the palace. One of them is locked up but I can find you the key."
"Hmm, I didn't know you had a helpful side to you." You murmured.
"Keep walking, we don't have all day."
"Well, we kinda do have all day. I don't think there's anything else I have to do today. The Queen told Jin to relieve me of my training. So other than that I don't have anything."
"Did the Queen mention to you that she requested your presence at her dinner table?" He asked.
You froze. The Queen wanted to have dinner? Again? The last time you had dinner with her, the prince didn't look so happy. You were afraid that something like that would happen again.
"You don't suppose there could be a chance that the prince has dinner with us too?"
"If he's not busy then there is a 100% chance he will be there. He always eats with his mother. She insisted on it after the King's assassination."
You nodded and continued walking. As you came upon the garden, you saw the bolted door.
"You said you could get a key right?"
"Yeah... The only problem is that I'm not supposed to leave your side. So stay right here until I come back and don't say a word about this or I'll introduce you to the King."
That being said he rushed off down the path. You bit your lip and crossed your arms over your chest. While you waiting for him, you looked at the walled garden. It didn't look abandoned so clearly it was still in use. Why is it locked up though? The Queen didn't say anything about not using this garden so I probably can use it. It depends on how the inside is though.
You were snapped out of your thoughts by the sound of footsteps headed your way. Your eyes darted from corner to corner as you frantically searched for a hiding space. A tree around the corner caught your eye and without a moment to lose, you ran and hid behind it.
Curiosity made you look to see who it was. It wasn't Agent JK but a simple gardener. As he left the garden, you sighed and turned to go back to your spot. Shock filled your entire body as you collided with a hard surface; a chest to be exact. You stumbled back and held your hands over your nose. Trying not to make eye contact with the stranger you tried to get away quickly.
The person grabbed your wrist and stopped you from getting away. With one hand still over your nose, your eyes slowly traveled up the stranger's arm. You gasped and pulled your wrist out of his grasp and bowed.
"Is there a specific reason as to why you're creeping around my gardens like a goblin?" He asked. His eyes pierced into your skin as he waited for your answer.
You felt your face begin to burn as you averted your gaze to the ground. With a shaky voice, you tried to answer.
"I-I... Uh, the Queen... Garden party... Just looking... Back soon... Your Highness." You mumbled.
"Excuse me?"
"The Queen asked me to look for a spot for the garden party... I was just looking around." You said louder.
His eyes traveled up and down your body, scanning you. You stood there awkwardly and shifted your weight from side to side. It seemed as if it was getting harder to breathe and you were beginning to sweat.
"I should have known she would have done this. Either way, it's the simplest job for a peasant to carry out. Continue on, stranger." He said while raising an eyebrow.
He pushed past you knocking his shoulder against yours. You wondered if it was purposely or accidental. That wasn't what had you upset though. Was it the fact that he called you a peasant? Or that he pretend to not know you? Or maybe because he insulted your pride? It was all if the above.
As soon as he was out of earshot you started mumbling to yourself.
"How? He acted like he didn't know me and even had the audacity to call me a stranger! It's not like I saved his life or anything. A simple "aren't you that one girl" would have been nice. So much for a prince charming."
"Watch that mouth of yours, peasant. I could stick you back in that dungeon for blasphemy against the prince."
Agent JK was standing behind you twirling the key in his hand. You immediately covered your mouth and looked away.
"What? No. I was talking about something else. I wouldn't dare to speak about our wonderful successor like that." You laughed nervously.
"Keep thinking like that. Also, there's no point in trying to lie to me next time. I saw the prince pass by here. I won't throw you in the dungeon yet. Just watch your tongue."
You nodded and sighed. He threw you the key and pointed to the door.
"Open it up. You still got a job to do. Get it done before dinner so you're not late."
