The incessant ringing of my phone awoke me from my unintentional sleep. I sighed loudly and sat up, rubbing my eyes with one hand and grabbing my phone with the other. Without looking at the caller I.D, like usual, I brung the phone up to my ear and answered it.

"Hello?" I mumbled, sleep still evident in my voice.

"Skylar? I'm sorry did I wake you up?" Jack's voice rang through the speakers.

"Yes, yes you did. What is it?" I asked, yawning quietly.

"I just wanted to know if you'd wanna do something with me." He said.

I furrowed my eyes, closing my eyes and tilting my head so it was leaning on my shoulder, "What? Right now? What time is it?" I asked.

"It's 10:27pm and yes, right now." He said, "unless you don't want to." He quickly added.

I licked my lips, "What did you have in mind?" I asked, scratching my leg slowly.

"Get dressed and meet me outside in ten minutes?" He said, more like a question.

I stayed quiet for a little, contemplating on what to do. "Alright." I muttered before hanging up.

I lifted my head and opened my eyes, throwing the covers off my body and swinging my legs off the bed.

I stood up and walked over to my dresser, pulling out a pair of grey joggers and a black v-neck. I threw them on as quickly as I could, still being half asleep.

I shuffled my feet into the bathroom, turned on the light and looked in the mirror. My hair was everywhere but other than that I looked alright, well as alright as one who had just woken up could be.

I pulled my hair up in a tight messy bun then walked back into my room, turning off the bathroom light.

I grabbed a pair of ankle socks and my black and white low-cut converse, sliding them both on. After grabbing a few other things, I heard my doorbell ring.

I jogged down the stairs and went to the front door, unlocking it and twisting it open.

Jack stood there in a red Nebraska hoodie and a pair of basketball shorts.

A smile played on his lips once he saw me, "Hey," He smiled.

I smiled softly, "Hi. You're so lucky we're friends or else I would've cussed you out for waking me up." I said.

Jack chuckled, "Oh gee thanks, such a nice way to be greeted" He joked.

I shrugged, "I said Hi."

Jack rolled his eyes playfully and grabbed my hand, pulling me out the door. I closed the door behind me, managing to lock it with Jack pulling me. Once we got to his car, he opened it for me and helped me inside.

I buckled up and closed my eyes, leaning back in the seat. A few seconds later, Jack opened the drivers side door and hopped in.

"So, I hope you have something really good planned after waking me up out of my very cherished sleep." I muttered, turning my head towards Jack.

He smiled and chortled, "I hope so too."

______

After nothing but music playing during the long car ride, we ended up in an isolated area. There was nothing but big trees, fields of grass and the night sky. Jack had parked in the middle of the field, turning off the car and hopping out.

I furrowed my eyebrows and followed his lead, hopping out the car as well. Jack pulled out a blanket from the back seat of his car and laid it on the top of his car hood.

"Okay, what are we doing?" I asked completely confused.

"We're gonna lay here and watch the stars."

I raised my eyebrows and dropped my head, "Really? Star watching? What is this, come kind of cliche love story?" I laughed.

"You don't like it? I thought girls liked these kind of things." He said a little sad.

I walked up to him, "I mean, most girls do but let's just say I'm not like most girls. I'm not into all that mushy stuff. I'd rather lay in bed, watch movies and stuff my face with food rather than go star watching. I'd rather go to a fast food restaurant than go to a fancy, way too expensive restaurant. I'm not hard to please, I promise you. This is cute and all, but it's so unnecessary." I explained.

He nodded, a small smile appearing on his lips, "That's exactly what I like about you, Skylar." He whispered loud enough for me to hear.

I smiled and let out a soft laugh, "Come on, let's go to my house and just chill." I insisted.

"That sounds amazing." He smiled, looking down at me.

______

"No, shut up!" I laughed as Jack told me about his childhood embarrassments.

"It happened, in front of all my friends. It was horrible." He chuckled.

Our laughs died down and we both leaned back on my bed, my hands rested on my stomach and his hands rested behind his head.

"Can I ask you something?" He asked.

I turned my head a little to face him, "Sure, what's up?"

"Why'd you come take care of me the other night?" He asked, licking his lips.

I shrugged, "Because that's what friends are for. I didn't want you walking home by yourself while drunk, I myself know that's an absurd idea." I explained.

"What do you mean?" He asked.

I sighed, "About two months ago, I walked home drunk by myself and if it wasn't for some guy walking down the street with his dog, I would've been kidnapped." I muttered.

He instantly turned to face me, "Are you serious?" He asked.

I nodded, "Yeah, it was a black van and they pulled up beside and and hopped out. They walked towards me and started making weird conversation that I could barely remember, next thing I know, they're trying to pull me into the van. The guy with the dog saw and gave his dog the attack command and saved me. He immediately called the cops and thankfully they were arrested for attempted kidnapping and are currently serving time." I explained completely.

"Damn, I'm so sorry." He said, rubbing my upper arm in comfort.

I shook my head, "Don't worry about it, I've been through a lot of shit in my life. I'm not gonna let something like that get me down." I gave him a weak smile.

"You're such a strong person." He complimented me.

I sighed loudly, "I gotta be. If I'm not then how am I gonna move on in life? I have a little sister who looks up to me, I have to be strong. I'm not gonna let things like that stop me from living my life. I'm only eighteen, I have a full life ahead of me. I'm not gonna end it that easily." I bit my lip.

Jack didn't say anything, he just looked at me in awe.

I smiled after awhile, "Stop staring at me." I blushed faintly.

"I can't help it, I'm so intrigued by you and your story."

I turned on my side, my back facing him, "Goodnight Jack."

"You're letting me stay here?" He asked a little shocked.

I nodded, "It's already 1 in the morning, I'm not gonna make you drive this late. Plus, I'm pretty sure you know better than to try something against my will."

"Can I hold you?" He asked tentatively.

I licked my lips, reaching behind me and grabbing his arm and wrapped it tightly around my waist. I brung my arm up to my face as he moved closer to me.

His warm breathing trickling softly down my neck as he slid his arm underneath my head to use as a pillow.

I slithered down a little so I could rest the back of my head in the crook of his neck comfortably for the both of us.

I could feel the soft smile form on Jack's lips as he whispered sweetly,

"Goodnight beautiul."
