Chapter L

After dinner, I insisted that I'd help Katherine clean up. Even though she tried to reassure me that it was fine, I wanted to be a nice guest and help her. She was in the kitchen with Jack as I grabbed the dishes.

While I was about to walk into the kitchen, I could hear Jack, Katherine and his sisters talking. Now I didn't wanna be nosey but once I heard my name, I knew I had to listen in.

"So Skylar, huh?" I heard his sister Molly say.

"Yeah, what about her?" Jack asked.

"You really like her don't you?" His other sister Laura asked.

"Yeah, I love her actually." He said confidently, making me look down and smile.

"How long have you guys known each other?" Katherine asked.

"About six and a half months." He said.

My eyebrows raised at the realization, it honestly felt like I've known him longer. As horribly cliche as that sounds.

"Why aren't you guys official yet?!" Laura exclaimed.

"She's not ready. She had a hard break-up, he broke her heart and I'm just trying to..mend the pieces together. I'm willing to wait as long as it takes."

I bit my lip to hold in my awe and smiled wide, butterflies erupting in my stomach. He was so perfect.

"How long do you think you'll have to wait?" Katherine asked, turning off the water faucet.

"I honestly don't know." Jack sighed.

The sadness in his voice made me feel guilty. I had been egging him on for months now and he's just went with it. He's been so amazing to me, has made me feel something I've been craving for a long time.

"Where is Skylar with those dishes? Skylar honey!" Katherine shouted from the kitchen, making me jump slightly and almost drop the plates.

I took a deep breath and walked into the kitchen, "Sorry, my best friend texted me about an emergency. I really need to get back home." I came up with a lie quickly.

I sat down the plates in the sink, "I'm sorry it's so abrupt, but dinner was amazing and I had a really good time." I smiled at them.

"It's fine honey, I hope everything is well. I'll see you soon?" She asked, raising her eyebrows as she placed her hands on my shoulders.

I nodded reassuringly with a soft smile. She engulfed me in a quick and friendly hug before receding and continuing the dishes.

"I'll walk you out." Jack stood up, placing his hand on my lower back.

I nodded and said my last goodbyes to his family before walking out of the door. We walked down to my car and Jack opened the drivers side for me.

"I'll see you to-"

"Jack I love you so much." I cut him off, "I'm sorry for leading you on. It wasn't my intentions at all. I want you and I'm so happy with you. You've broken down all my walls and it's amazing but yet so fucking terrifying because now you have the power to break me. But I trust you, I believe you wouldn't hurt me." I rambled on.

Jack looked completely shocked, "What's this about? Babe what are you saying?"

"I want you. I want the title, Jack. I want you to be able to introduce me as your girlfriend and I can introduce you as my boyfriend. I wanna be boyfriend and girlfriend. I'm ready." I put my hands on his cheeks, holding his face.

Jack smiled wide, "Babe, where's this coming from?" He chortled, holding my waist and pulling me over.

"I may or may not have overheard you and your family talking about us in the kitchen after dinner." I mumbled, lowering my head.

"Skylar," Jack exhaled, "don't feel pressured to do this."

I shook my head and looked up, "I don't feel pressured, I-I want this. I've wanted it for awhile actually, I was just afraid. But I know I don't have to be afraid anymore. Because I have you." I smiled softly.

"Are you su-"

"I'm positive." I cut him off, laughing.

Jack smiled wide and picked me up, spinning us around before placing his lips on mine as he placed me down on my feet. Our lips moved slowly, his arms holding me tightly and my arms wrapped around his neck loosely.

Jack backed me up against the car, making me fall against the car seat since the door was open, causing his both to laugh.

"I love you." We said at the same time, making us smile at each other.

I ran my finger over his bottom lip, "All mine." I whispered in astonishment.

"All yours."
