The dinging of the bell on the door was loud, letting the workers at the small little cafe know that someone had just walked in. I sighed in pleasure of the warm air hitting me instantly since it was pretty cold outside.
I found a table next to the window that was decorated with Christmas stickers and fake snow. It wasn't even Thanksgiving yet and people were already in the Christmas spirit, I couldn't complain though, I was probably just as excited as everyone else.
I shimmied off my leather jacket and placed it on the back of my chair, crossing my legs underneath the table and leaning on the table, looking at the menu that was already placed on the table.
My eyes scanned over the various amount of selections, settling with just a Frappe and a sandwich. I leaned back in my seat and pulled out my phone, scrolling through my social media accounts.
The familiar dinging of the door flowed throughout the cafe and footsteps emerged towards me, "It's cold as shit out there." Alexis complained, taking a seat in front of me.
"Nice to see you too." I teased, putting my phone away.
Alexis rolled her eyes and slid off her jacket, putting it on the back of the chair, "Hi, Skylar."
"Hi, Alexis." I mocked her.
She smiled softly and picked up the menu, her eyes scanning over it, "So, how've you been? It feels like we haven't talked in forever." She asked, her eyes not leaving the menu.
"I've been great actually," I said happily.
Her eyes lifted off the menu and she looked at me, "Why's that?" She smirked.
"You know why, Alexis." I tilted my head.
She furrowed her eyebrows and then subsequently gasped, putting down her menu, "It's Jack isn't it!" She exclaimed.
I laughed, "Shut up, " I looked around at some of the people looking at us, "you're causing a scene."
She rolled her eyes, "It is, it'sn't it?" She repeated.
Before I could say anything, a waitress walked over to our table and smiled, "Hello, I'm Hannah and I'll be your waitress for the day. Are you ladies ready to order?" She chirped, her notebook in her french manicured hands.
"I'll have the Caramel Frappe with chocolate syrup and whipped cream and the original sandwich, please." She nodded and looked over at Alexis, "And for you?"
"Um, " She picked up the menu and shrugged, "I'll have the same thing, I guess." She smiled up at her.
Hannah nodded, "Alright, I'll be back with your orders shortly." She walked off.
I raised my eyebrows, "Remember when we used to be that happy at work?" Alexis sighed, "Oh the good days."
I chuckled, "Indeed they were, now I can't wait to find something better so I could quit."
Alexis nodded, "Same, I can't stand washing anymore dishes. My fingers are gonna soak off."
"So, what's going on with you miss I've-been-so-busy?" I asked, tapping my fingers on the marble tables.
She shrugged, "Nothing really. Aunt Aleah came to visit for a few days so I was basically forced to stay home then I hung out with Chase." She explained.
"Chase, huh? What's going on with you guys?" I wiggled my eyebrows up and down.
Alexis shook her head, "Shut up, it's just been a while since we hung out so I wanted to catch up. All we did was go out to dinner and go to a fair downtown."
