- That Night -
My mind wouldn't stop going back to the recent event that happened earlier with Andrew. He looked so...genuine. I didn't even think that was possible for him to be genuine.
I felt bad, not for him but for his mother. Ms. Martinez was always such a nice lady to me but so blind to the pain I was suffering due to her son thanks to the perfected fake smiles.
I wondered how long she had been going through what I had went through; all the heart breaks, the sleepless nights, the crying ourselves to sleep, etc.
I feel bad for her but I'm also happy it happened. Not for her sake of course, but for Andrews sake. He finally realized his wrong doing, he finally realized what pain he was causing and how much of it. He finally knew how much he broke me.
I was taken out of my thought by my phone and computer ringing, letting me know someone wanted to FaceTime. I squinted my teary eyes to see it was Jack. I sighed and sniffled, wiping my face and quickly fixing my hair before answering.
His face soon popped up and a huge smile was planted on his face, "Hey ba- what's wrong?" His smile dropped and a worried expression took over his face.
I shook my head, sniffling, "It's nothing, I uh, I just watched a sad movie that made me cry that's all." I quickly came up with a lie.
"Are you sure?" He asked.
I nodded, "I'm fine, how was your day?" I asked, changing the subject.
I didn't wanna tell Jack because I knew he'd flip and try to get to Omaha as fast as possible and kick Andrews ass. He needed to be in LA right now, focusing on making his music with Johnson.
I didn't wanna distract him and have him worried about me. He needs to stay focus. I planned on telling him but I was gonna wait until he came here.
"It was fine, just got back from the studio and dinner about an hour and a half ago with Johnson." He shifted in his seat, making himself more comfortable against the headboard of his bed.
"Jack," I smirked, dragging out his name, "what was that lisp about?"
His eyes widen slightly and his cheeks turned slight red, "You heard that?"
I nodded, "Do you have a retainer in?" I gushed.
He covered his face with his hands, "Oh my god, you noticed! I'll take them off that's embarrassing."
"No! It's cute." I smiled.
"No it's not," He disagreed, beginning to take them out.
"Wait, I have a retainer as well hold on." I giggled, hopping off my bed and over to my desk.
I grabbed my retainer case that I had used recently and slipped the retainer into my mouth then ran back to my bed, getting comfortable in my original spot.
I opened my mouth wide, "See!" I said with a slight lisp.
Jack chuckled, "This is why you're my girl."
I smiled, feeling myself blush and butterflies erupt in my stomach like usual, "Aww," I cooed, "look at us. Relationship goals!" I teased, exclaiming.
Jack laugh, mouth opened clearly showing his retainer. To be sneaky, I took a screenshot.
"Skylar!" He exclaimed, "did you just take a screenshot?!"
I laughed and shook my head, "I would never." I said in a fake southern accent.
"Babe," he whined, "delete it."
I shook my head, "Never, I'm making this my lock screen."
"What why?" He furrowed his eyebrows, chortling.
"Because we both look like idiots, perfectly describes our relationship." I smiled, setting it as my lock-screen on my phone.
"I can't wait to call you mine." He sighed, running his hand through the front of his hair, tugging at his roots.
I smiled, "You're adorable."
Jacks face suddenly beamed with excitement, "I have good news,"
"What?" I asked, raising my eyebrow.
"I'll be back in two days." He smirked.
I gasped, my eyes wide, "Really?" I excitedly asked.
He nodded which caused me to bounce up and down a little in my bed, shaking my laptop that was laid on my lap.
"I can't wait!" I groaned, smiling as I threw my head back.
"Neither can I," He smiled, leaning his head back slightly.
"I love you Skylar," He exhaled, grinning.
"And I love you, Jack."
Even though I had a bad day, was bombarded with bad memories and endless thoughts, Jack knew exactly what to do to make me smile.
One thing I knew for certain, he was something special.
