Jack's POV
"Oh come on it's just a little bonfire with a couple of my friends, nothing too serious." I tried persuading Skylar.
The guys and I decided to have a bonfire tonight, just to hang out, chill and talk about random things. Most of the guys were bringing girls and I wanted to bring Skylar.
Not to show her off or anything -- Okay maybe it was too show her off a little but that wasn't the whole point. I wanted her to meet the guys properly and I know the guys wanted to meet her since they could tell I've been acting "different".
They know it's because of a girl but I hadn't said anything, I wasn't one to brag about liking a girl, I was always laid back and if they find out then I guess they just found out.
"Who's a couple of friends?" She asked, using air quotes.
"Sam, Johnson, Mike, Nate, and I know for sure they're gonna bring some girls so you won't be the only one there." I told her.
"So when we say girls do you mean cool, laid back girls or 'all in your face, I think I'm the shit and can have any guy I want' girls?" She raised her eyebrow.
I chuckled, "Why are you over-thinking this so much?" I asked.
She shrugged, 'I keep a pretty close circle, I don't just let anyone in." She explained.
"You let me in." I reminded her. She nodded, "Yeah but it wasn't instantly" She countered.
I nodded, "Touche"
"What do you even wear to a bonfire?" She questioned, throwing her hands up.
"Clothes?" I teased her.
She rolled her eyes at me, something she always did no matter the situation, "I don't have time for your witty replies, Gilinsky." She playfully hissed.
"Alright," I lifted my hands up in defeat, "what you have on right now is perfectly fine."
I reassured her. Skylar looked down at her outfit, her teal, oversized knitted sweater hung past her mid-thigh and light denim high waisted jeans hugged her curvy body perfectly. She topped off her look with black combat boots that looked look great on her.
"Are you sure?" She asked, worry seeping in her voice.
I nodded, "I'm positive, can we go now? The boys are probably waiting for us." I stood up and walked towards her.
She sighed and stood up in front of me, our height differences made her look up at me, "Fine." She agreed.
I smiled down at her, admiring her face for a few seconds. Her winged eyeliner and dark mascara made her gorgeous hazel eyes stand out more. Her long dark brown hair was wavy like usual, I'm guessing it was a natural wave.
Even with her little makeup, she still managed to look like something that just stepped off a runway. I don't what it was about her - maybe it was the fact that she was a challenge and she was pretty blunt - whatever it was, It consumed me and made me think about her all the time.
She never left my mind, no matter how hard I tried I was sucked back in a vortex full of her. Her smile, her laugh, her witty comebacks, her constant eye-rolling, how laid back she was, it was perfect. She was perfect.
Or as perfect as a human can possibly get.

I killed the engine to my jeep and took the keys out of the ignition, looking over at Skylar who was looking out the window. Once she noticed the silence she looked over at me, almost like I had taken her out of a deep thought.
