Chapter 37

     "Jacob?" I say just as I hear a loud growl echo through the woods around us. It's just a moment before a large animal crashes through the trees, making most of us scream in fear. We all run behind a tree closest to us except Bella and Edward who stand before the creature that I notice as a large version of a wolf. I've never seen a wolf before except in books, but this appears to be something more. That's when I get the feeling that this must be Jacob. My first thought is werewolf. There were only a few that were said to be in the Fandom District before it got blown up, but none appeared in the games. I always wondered why that was.

     I watch the wolf-like form carefully as he looks around Bella and Edward, who stand before him, and stares directly at me. He takes one big sniff of the air, then quickly transforms into a human being as quickly as he appeared. He has deep brown eyes and black hair, and looks like he is Indian descent. I know a little about Indians because some of the people in the new District 12 are descendants of them, but seeing a wolf transform into an Indian is just strange.

     "Your Alexandra Parker." Jacob says with certainty.

     I come out from behind the large oak tree, and walk towards him slowly like he's a wild animal or something, although he seems part of one. He just stares at me and looks at me up and down like I'm not what he was expecting.

     "Yes, how do you know my name?" I say with my eyebrows furrowed and my lips in a straight line.

     "Alice Cullen." he says. "She said that Bella and Edward were coming along with many others including the one that was to help us fight the Volturi." He laughs silently and smirks. "Although, she forgot the little detail that a commoner was to be the key to stopping them, and that it was a little, skinny, teenage girl with a slight attitude."

     "I do not!!!" I say immediately. "If you don't need my help then may be I'll just leave, and let all of these others stay in vampire town for a good long while. May be then you'll think twice about me and my, so called, attitude."

     There was anger clear in my voice, and everyone seems to notice it. I look around at the other rebels and notice the look on their faces. They believe me. There is look of terror and shock on their faces and poor Rudy and Leisel look like they just heard the worst thing they could possibly ever hear.

     "What could you possibly-" Jacob begins to say before I cut him off.

     "How do you think we got here. I'm the only person that can get us from place to place because of my blood."

     "The only purpose your blood-"

     "Jacob." Bella says. "She's right. She has been moving us from different worlds for the past few days. If she ever ends up dead while we are here, we are all stuck here and there will be no way of defeating the Volturi, President Snow, and Jeanine Matthews, the other enemies we are also against."

     Jacob stand there for a moment and just stares at her. He looks like he is thinking about something, but disagrees with what he is thinking. He takes a deep breath and finally says. "Ok....so you are a big deal in this fight we have been losing. If it makes you any happier, I'm sorry."

     I just look at him in shock. Did he just say sorry? Did the big bad wolf with the huge muscles say sorry to a little, skinny, teenage girl?

     "Thank you." I say with a huge grin on my face although I want to say more, I hold my tongue.

     His lips form into a straight line and looks around at the others.

     "I don't know if we will be able to give all of you a good place to stay, but we'll see. Follow me." Jacob says as he begins walking away.

     We follow him through the dark, woods, and wonder what place there is beyond this forested area that could possibly house us all.
