I shut the door to my house as quietly as possible, despite the fact that the majority of my family is still out on missions of their own. This night has definitely been an eventful one. The actual mission was simple, but when I bumped into Griffin on my way, it had me freaked out. Normal people cannot know what I do, so I had to lie. The lie slid off my tongue pretty easily, and I think he believed it. If only I hadn't gotten distracted by the raccoon, then I wouldn't have bumped into him in the first place. I'm a bit confused why he was out at that time, but we all have our secrets. Despite the risk in the situation I couldn't help noticing the way his blue eyes shone in the moonlight was stunning, and still has me mesmerized. Of course the chances we could actually be together are very slim. That won't stop me from texting him tomorrow morning about meeting up one day for dinner or a movie. I go back to my room, and put away all the needles, and knives, before changing into pjs. Dakota is still on some mission, leaving me a quiet room to fall asleep...

The next morning I wake up early for no particular reason. Everyone else is still asleep when I wake up, so I quickly sneak into Dad's office and check today's schedule. Maeve, Maeve, Maeve. I look for my name down the page. It says I only have 1 today, but then it says I have something else to do as well, but doesn't specify what. My actual mission isn't until 3pm, and it seems like an easy one in a poor neighborhood. My special event, or whatever it may be, is at 12. That gives me approximately 7 hours to do nothing and wander around town. I quickly sneak out of the office, closing the door as quietly as possible, heading back to my bedroom. Dak, is still passed out, but I don't mind. I'm pretty good at being quiet. I change out of my pjs into a jean skirt, and black tube top, before grabbing some cash from the counter, and my phone. As I leave the house, I swear I hear someone wake up, but I don't bother turning back. I left Dakota a note in our bedroom saying I'm grabbing a coffee and will be back soon. Whether or not it's soon is irrelevant. I go to the cafe, where I think I've spent the majority of my time at since moving to this city. I swipe into my phone, and go to text messages. Since I have no missions tonight, what's the harm in having some fun. I type in Griffin's name, and his phone number pops up.

Me:

Hey Griffin! It's Mae, and i was wondering if you were busy tonight?

Griffin:

Depends... what'd you have in mind?

Me:

Thought we could hang out for a bit.

Griffin:

Cafe at 8?

Me:

Sounds good!

I shut off my phone, a grin spreading across my face. Obviously it is kind of weird for me to be asking him out, but I don't see a problem with it. Besides the fact that my parents have already set me up to marry James. I finish sipping my vanilla latte, and bring my croissant to go. I don't have much to do here. I spent an hour at the cafe, but that leaves me with at least 5 hours until I have to start getting ready for the mission. I wander around the village, and watch as it slowly starts to fill up with people. Little kids eager to grab a bite to eat, or run around with their friends for their first few days of summer vacation. Teenagers out babysitting, or getting other jobs for the summer. I don't really get what summer vacation is, since I didn't get it. Since I was homeschooled, and needed to finish by age 15/16, I learned right through the summer. The only difference for me was the amount of kids out partying at night, and the harder it was to sneak around. I didn't mind though. It was how I was raised. Part of me has always wanted to go to one of those parties. Be able to drink, and not have to worry about anything other than whether or not a guy likes me. Of course something like that could never happen. I get that, and there isn't much I can do about it. I walk back towards my house, and by the time I get there, Dakota is already gone, on a mission I assume. I get ready to settle down in my room, just as my mom walks in.
