I was so happy when Mae texted me about hanging out tonight, and I immediately knew where I should take her. Now I'm waiting outside the cafe, in nice jeans, and a nice shirt, a bunch of roses in my hand. I know it's a bit cheesy and over done for a first date, but I feel like Mae is a girl I need to impress. I check my watch countless times, as I wait, despite the fact I'm a few minutes early. When I finally see her auburn hair appear around the corner I stand up straight and smile taking in the sight. She looks beautiful tonight. Her dress is silver and tight, and it really does show off her body, which is flawless. The silver of her dress brings out the grey in her eyes, making them glow. She smiles at me, and she puts her hand on her hip and tilts her head to the side, in a way that makes her look... cute.

"All this for me?" she exclaims, as I hand her the roses.

"Always," I answer kissing her hand. I can tell she wants to ask where we are going, but she holds her tongue. We start walking down the street, and I fight the urge to grab her hand, that swings lazily by her side. As we turn the corner, her eyes widen.

"No way!" she says, staring at the big screen, "Griffin!" she laughs, "you set this all up for me! All I really need is food and I'm happy!" I smile.

"I thought this would be more memorable," I answer, motioning around. She looks at the checkered blanket sitting on the grass,

"I assume I sit here," she says, and as I nod she plops down, and immediately looks into the basket. I sit down next to her, pulling things out of it.

"To start, caprese salad, and some warm-ish bread," I say placing the big plate of it in the middle, and giving her her own plate and cutlery.

"Yum," she answers digging in. "So are you planning to do something with the big screen you set up?" I nod, and dig through the basket pulling out 3 movies.

"Do you have a preference?" I ask. She shrugs,

"Well there's no need to make you sit through a romantic movie for me, and I don't really like documentaries, so let's go with the scary movie," she answers pulling it from my hand. I smile, and put the others away. I set up the movie for us, while serving the main course, steak with mashed potatoes and veggies. I pull out the fuzzy blanket, so we can stay warm as the sun starts to set.

"These movies are so predictable!" she exclaims just after the big jump scare. Mae is tucked under the blanket, only inches away from me, and we are slowly moving closer.

"Doesn't make it any less scary," I answer, turning towards her.

"Oh so you need me to hold your hand at the next scary part," she says in a baby voice.

"I wouldn't object to that," I answer, grinning. She shivers and starts to turn back towards the movie grinning. I watch as she leans in closer to me, leaning on me. I wrap my arms around her, to keep her warm, and watch her instead of the movie.

"You know watching the movie is usually part of this," she says playfully glancing up at me. I smile in embarrassment.

"It's hard to watch something, when something much more beautiful is in front of you though," I point out. She laughs and grabs a cupcake from the plate I put out earlier.

"He compliments too. Wow, what isn't perfect about you?" I hunt bad guys for a living too, I almost tell her, but I realize that isn't something that should be shared with most people.
