Griffin wakes me up early today with a cup of coffee and a note, and then mysteriously disappears into the kitchen. I sit up slowly and drink the coffee as I unfold the note.
Good morning beautiful! Drink the coffee, change into a bathing suit and something comfy and come out to the place where we eat all our food to get the next clue...
A scavenger hunt. This is going to be fun. I put on an Indigo triangle shaped bathing suit with flowy grey shorts and turquoise tank top before heading the kitchen with the first clue. My mouth gapes as I stare at the huge pancake decorating thing Griffin has set up.
"Good morning," I say kissing Griffin, "what is all this for?" I ask him. He shrugs a grin hiding beneath his not so neutral face.
"Let's just make some pancakes," he says, handing me a giant fluffy pancake. I load it with sprinkles and gummies and lots and lots of whipped cream, and I eat almost the whole thing. Griffin hands me another slip of paper that's folded. I open it slowly and read.
Congrats, you've eaten as much as you can, now off to the beach where we parasailed to find a castle made of sand made by your love's very own hands.
I smile up at Griffin and he follows me as I get in the car to drive to the beach where Griffin and I had our first date after I found out he was a Colton. The beach is empty since it's the middle of January, but it's pretty warm today. I look around the sand and spot the sand castle that I have to say is very elaborate. I turn to Griffin and laugh.
"When did you go out and make this!" I exclaim. At the doorway to the sandcastle is a little heart with another slip of paper. I pick it up and read the next scrawl of writing.
Now that you're at the beach, it's time to find a modified activity of the thing I said I'd never do, but now I'll do it for you! While doing that activity you'll find the next clue!
I smile, because I know exactly what the activity is. Griffin said he hated being in the ocean because of fish, so I said we should go scuba diving. A modified version of scuba diving must be snorkeling. Griffin looks at me waiting for me to figure it out. I bite my lip,
"You're really going to do this with me?" I ask him excitedly. He shrugs and I take off towards the end of the dock where an instructor with gear waits.
"Mae and Griffin?" he asks. I nod and throw my clothes into a small bag Griffin gave to me.
"Thank you for this," I say kissing Griffin right before I jump into the water. He comes soon after me and swims a bit further out. "So how far is this note?" I ask him.
"Not further than the rock over there, but you can take your time and enjoy scuba diving because no promises it's ever happening again," he says laughing nervously as he looks into the water.
"You do know the stuff you're scared of like sharks and stuff are way further out..." I trail off laughing, "but look at that sea turtle!" I exclaim. Griffin moves away from it as fast as he can and it's quite entertaining. I spend almost 45 minutes swimming around looking at the sea creatures, but also for the note. I finally spot it, a shiny plastic surrounding the note that is stuck between two rocks. I dive down and yank it from the rocks, holding it up between my two fingers to show Griffin. "How'd you even get it down there?" I ask him. He shrugs,
"I had some help you could say..." he trails off. By help he means Lucas I assume, since they spent all of yesterday together while Mack and I got our nails done. I got mine done in a light grey/blue colour that I love! We swim back to the dock, me taking my time and enjoying the view underwater, and when we get back I dry off and take out the paper from the plastic folding.
