Me:

Hey ;)

Griffin:

Hey what's up

Me:

I have some news

Griffin:

Good news?

Me:

Good news! I come home in 2 days!

Griffin:

For good?

Me:

For good!

Griffin:

Mae that's great!

I smile and quickly tell Griffin I have to go. But I'm smiling and can't stop. After days of arguing and negotiating. My parents agreed to let me give a go at doing missions and living without them. At least for a month. They said after that they will reevaluate how I'm doing and decide if I can stay longer. Of course I didn't tell them about Griffin, but I had enough other reasons. For a while Dak opted to come with me, but I convinced her I'll be okay with the Malcoms. She's making me call or text her every day and tell her I'm okay and how everything with Griffin is going. My parents on the other hand I have to call once a week and give a full update on my life. Well not the actual full update, but as much as they need to know update. I'm not allowed to go back until the 8th, since the funeral is the 7th as well as the reading of the will. The service and will reading is from 9-11 with a lunch afterwards. Then a driver will take me back to Miami, well, a small town near Miami, which is a really long drive which is why I won't be there until the 8th, to stay with the Malcoms. I've met them a few times. They have a little girl who's about 8 maybe, and another little boy about 6. I get the guest bedroom luckily and don't have to share with anyone. But, they aren't too good at their missions. They aren't part of the Blakes, but a completely separate organization made of only their family. They have cousins and grandparents that apparently live a few blocks away. Either way, they are very nice people, who will stay with and run missions for. Of course I'll be doing some Blake missions as well, but as part of the agreement for me staying there, I have to do some for them.

I head downstairs now, where Mom has just finished up lunch for everyone. Grandpa hasn't left the house, and only got cleaned up for dinner last night when we had all his friends over. He barely talks, and when he does it's only a few words. Even Dad hasn't talked much. I get it, it was his mom, he gets to be sad.

"Hey sweetie," my mom says as I come inside, "can you help put everything on the table?" I grab a bowl of peas and french fries and place them on the table as Mom placed the steaming bowl of chicken breasts. I sit down and wait for everyone else to come as Mom calls them. Dak is next to come and sits next to me in silence. Slowly everyone comes, and we sit in silence. Dad's brother and sister are here with us, but they don't have any children. So the 9 of us sit in silence as we enjoy the meal.

"The chicken is wonderful Evelyn," Dad's sister, Jasmine says. She's the only one out of Grandma's immediate family that's been able to talk.

"Thank you Jas," my mom responds quietly, before we go back to eating in silence.

After lunch Dak, Indie and I go back to our room in silence. Once the door is closed, we all let out a deep breath we've been holding in.

"How long is this going to go on?" Dak asks.
