The ceremony was perfect. Perfectly perfect. I loved all of it, Griffin's vows were amazing, my vows went pretty well, even his Mom seemed pretty nice afterwards. Our first dance was amazing, and it felt nice to have that small part of my family with me for my special day. Now I am just finishing up the salad with Griffin when Mack takes the mic. Mack tends to speak her thoughts, so this speech. Well let's hope Lucas kept her at bay. First she taps the mic which gives it the annoying screeching sound. Now that she has everyone's attention she starts her speech.
"Hi everyone!" she exclaims, "my name is Mackenzie, but everyone calls me Mack. I am the maid of honour today, so me and Lucas, the best man, are going to speak a few words on our dear friends Griffin and Mae." Lucas takes the mic now.
"So before we start, we are just going to explain how we all know each other..." he trails off smiling, "I met Mae and Griffin about 10 months ago when I came here to Miami for a mission. Let me just say when I met them and I found out they'd only been together 4 months, I was blown away. Even in the early stages of their relationship, Griffin and Mae fit together so perfectly, it made them seem like they'd known each other their whole life. The way they loved each other, made it seem like they'd been together for years. Over the past 10 months I have seen their relationship grow and mature, and no doubt about it, their love for each other strengthen."
"I met Griffin and Mae a bit earlier than Lucas did. When I met Griffin he came to join me and a few of my friends on a mission we'd already been doing for months. No offense Griff, but we weren't thrilled to have a new guy tagging along. That was more than a year ago, and may I just say, I'm glad the new guy tagged along with us, because he soon became one of my closest friends. I met Mae... well it was kind of an awkward experience. That happened just under a year ago, the day after her 18th birthday, when I came back to my house and found Mae sitting at my kitchen table with Griffin. Although soon enough, we became the closest of friends and without her, my fashion sense would still be the same as it was a year ago and let's just say... it has improved greatly." Everyone laughs with that, and Mack seems pleased with herself.
"Now back to the couple of the day..." Lucas says, and they continue on with a not so short sentimental speech, along with a slideshow I would've rather not be shown. Let's just say they get quite ugly photos when they basically live with you for a year. After the slideshow we enjoy our main course, pasta with some fancy butter sauce and veggies. We were going to do meat, but apparently a lot of Colton members are vegetarian, and it's very popular for them. Not that I mind pasta at all. So I eat the pasta slowly, in hope that it drags on this wonderful day I want to remember forever. Soon enough everyone is done eating and back dancing.
"May I have this dance?" Charles asks me. I smile. He's been my father figure throughout all of this, so I guess it's kind of a father daughter dance. He dances around with me, whispering in my ears some gossip about the Colton members there. For example, the lady on the board in the poofy red dress, she got on the board due to her husband's place of power in the police force, and last year they got a divorce and now the board isn't sure if she is still a power figure in the organization. And the guy with the big top hat, he and Charles were best friends in school, and then in their 20s, he slept with Charles' girlfriend at the time, and now they rarely speak. It's all quite interesting how even at their age, they have so much gossip, just within the organization.
"Mae?" Griffin says, taking me back from Charles to dance with him. "We should do the cake and gender reveal thing soon." He whispers. I nod,
"Griffin?" I say hesitantly, "can I ask you something?" He smiles at me and squeezes my hand tighter.
