"Today's the big day!" I call from our bedroom, "so hurry up and make sure you're wearing your best clothes, we have to get there by 1!" Today is the day. We've been waiting for the court date for months and it's finally come.

"Ready?" Griffin says grabbing from behind, "ready to become a Mom?" I smile at him, and kiss him.

"I've felt like one for months, this is just making it official," I tell him. My 20th birthday is right around the corner and Griffin's happened back in April. Our anniversary is also around the corner and we wanted to get it done before so we can announce it to everyone at the party. Yeah as soon as they get older the age difference will be a bit weird, but we'll deal with that when we come to it.

"You're a great mom," he says smiling about to kiss me again, "now how about we go adopt those two trouble makers already." We are in the car about 10 minutes later than I would've liked, but we make it to the court right on time.

"The Coltons!" The clerk yells. We rush in grinning ear to ear. Each and every one of us. We approached Sunny and Ben about it a while ago, and they loved the idea. Their parents were sentenced 40 years to life, with no visitation for quite a while, so it's not like they have anywhere else to go.

"Mr. and Mrs. Colton," the judge says staring up at us, "and you must be Sunny and Ben," the judge exclaims, his mood changing talking to the kids. God I'm about to become the mother of a 10 and 8 year old. "You wish to adopt Sunny and Ben, and the court didn't flag anything, so how about it!" he exclaims. We've done so much paperwork and interviews. I'm thankful there is no more today. "Ben and Sunny, do you want to be adopted by Griffin and Maeve?" They nod eagerly,

"Mae makes us the best food, and promised pancakes for breakfast every weekend once school starts!" Sunny exclaims. I smile up at the judge. We signed them both up for the closest private school to us. They'll be a bit above their grade level, but it's okay, being smart is good, but I also want them to get to experience normal school. Well, private school, but close enough.

"She's very talkative," I tell him laughing as he continues signing papers.

"Now Mae and Griffin if you wish to adopt Sunny and Ben, sign here, initial here, and then sign here," he tells us. We do as he says and soon enough we are taking a photo for the adoption all tucked close together.

"Okay, last photo!" The camera man says. I turn to Griffin,

"We have a family," I say quietly, "we have two little kids." Sunny and Ben smile up at us, and their white blond hair and green and blue eyes. I just can't say no to those faces.

"Can we get ice cream now?" Ben asks as we walk out of the courtroom, "to you know, celebrate the adoption?"

"That's the only reason you want ice cream?" Griffin teases. As much as he protested having them live with us at first, he really is great with them. Ben has grown out of his shyness a bit, and has become quite a negotiator for an 8 year old. I think we may have a little lawyer on our hands. With that we go to get ice cream, but I'm more excited for our later events of tonight. Let's just say... I have an extra small surprise.

As I bring out the chinese food, I'm quite excited. I put the noodles and rice that Sunny likes on her plate, and then let Ben put his own stuff. Sunny is a bit of a picky eater, but it's okay with me, because she eats a lot of pasta and I'm quite a fan of it. I put 1 fortune cookie on everyone's plate, and let's just say I customized the message.

"Dinner!" I call as Griffin and the kids, god the kids, come running down the stairs and sit in their seats. I kiss Sunny and Ben's head, "I'm so happy that we can call you our own little babies now," I say, sounding more and more like a mother every day.
