Ever since Mae told me everything about the Malcoms and agreed to help, it's been non stop work. Mae knew their exact location which helps immensely. But the plan still had to be perfected. The group for this isn't big, only Mae and I as well as this other guy, Jason. There was another guy, but he dropped out about a month ago. So the three of us are about to attack the house. Though attack is a strong word. Their business is only this family and the grandparents, but the grandparents are retired. They don't do that many missions. Mae on the other hand, is doing very little tonight. She said she lived with them for a while, and she can't face them. Although she agreed to deal with the kids. There are two of them. I think Mae said 9 and 7. They are going to have to be brought to foster care, which is extremely sad, but Mae said she'll take care of it. So right now we are at the apartment, waiting for Jason to show up.

"He's going to be late!" Mae exclaims. She's been stressing about tonight. "He's going to be late, and we're going to miss our window!" We've been planning for a week, and we are completely ready to fight off a total of 2 people.
"He won't be late!" I say, watching Mae pace back and forth, "it's probably just traffic," I tell him, and speak of the devil...

"Sorry I'm late, traffic," Jason says right on cue. Mae glances at me. She isn't a fan of Jason. He's an arrogant, self obsessed guy, convinced he can win Mae's heart. "Ready to go sweetheart?" There he goes again.

"Ok Jason," I say, "can we get going?" he nods and does the weird winky thing. I get in one car with Jason, while Mae gets in another. We follow her, not that we don't know the route. She just knows it better.

She parks less than a block away, which normally is risky, but these people are nothing like the Blake's. She gets out, and we walk side to side together towards their house. In and out. Police on speed dial.

"You guys get in, and get them down," Mae says. Her voice is shaky and I know she's nervous. "I'll call the police, get upstairs, get the kids and take off before they get here." Jason and I nod. Mae stands off down the street. I click in my head piece as we approach the house. The back door is old, the locks easy to break. Plus we got a copy of the key. We hop the backyard fence, fully aware that they could know we are here. While I unlock the door, Jason will be ready with the sedation needle.

"On 3," I whisper, the door unlocked. "1, 2, 3." I open the door and am surprised to see no one. Jason looks at me for guidance. Not the smartest guy. "Clear the house, whoever you see get them down, meet at the stairs." He nods and heads out. I take the kitchen since well, that's most likely where they'll be if not upstairs. The kitchen is clear. I head to their family room. It's clear. I get to the stairs and Jason shrugs. I go up first and sneak into the first bedroom to my right. The master according to Mae's floor plans. I turn the lights on. Empty.

"Every room but the kid's checked," I whisper into the headset. "Should we proceed?" I don't need Mae's permission, but I feel like I do. They think we won't do anything in front of the kids. Well if it comes down to it.

"Proceed," she says quietly. I go into the girls' room first. Empty. She's fast asleep, so I leave. I take a deep breath and open the door to the boys room. The parent's are huddled next to him. A knife flying at our head. I duck and it just misses Jason. I grab the syringe.

"Go at the same time as me," I whisper to Jason. I move closer to the parents. Careful not to wake up the little boy, I grab the Dad's hands holding them down. He tries to kick me, but there is no use, I'm too far. It takes one swift move to get the syringe into her neck, and Jason does the same, a little less successfully, obvious from the claw marks down his face. "Done," I whisper to Mae. And I hear the back door open.
