Griffin

September 5th, 2180

8:43pm

Lately we have been doing a lot for the mission. Cas, Mack, and I spend almost every minute on either stake-outs of planning for our next one. We haven't had too much luck lately, so it's becoming kind of tiring. I call Mae every night, despite the fact she's on a trip to visit her grandparents. She wasn't sure exactly when she was coming back, so we haven't been able to make plans since we saw each other a few days ago.

"Griffin?" Mack asks. I shake off my thoughts, "we need a new plan, it's been a week since we last had a lead!" I sigh,

"Our best bet is to keep splitting up," I say, "I'll check with my Dad, but it's possible they left town."

"When was the last report?" Cassie asks flipping through piles.

"September 1 for a full Blake," I say, "but yesterday there was a report of the Malcoms doing one, but for the Blakes." They both nod.

"So what?" Mack asks, "should we call your Dad and see if we should go for the Malcoms for now?" They both look at me, and i fumble over my words.

"I-, umm. I can call him tomorrow night if we still have nothing," I finish, and they both nod. "For now, just head out to your position for the night."

With that everyone is heading towards their neighborhood. I call Mae on the way. We moved the call to 9pm for the past few nights, because Mae's been busy around 8.

"Hey," I say as soon as she picks up, "what's up?" I hear a lot of background noise and she doesn't respond until after the clicking of a door.

"I'm good," she answers. I can hear in her voice that she wants to tell me something. "Really busy out here, but hoping I can come home soon."

"I can't wait for you to come back," I say smiling, "I miss you."

"I miss you too," she says, "so what have you been doing the past few days?" she asks.

"Busy with work," I answer truthfully. She goes silent for a moment at this, "what about you?"

"Hanging out with my grandparents mostly," she answers, "right now we are hosting a dinner party."

"Oh I don't want to keep you from it," I tell her, though truthfully I want to stay on the phone with her, dreading yet another 4 hour stake-out.

"No it's okay," she laughs, "truly. I'm super bored out there. We just finished dinner and everyone is sitting around talking now, and I don't really feel like talking to a bunch of my grandparents friends." I laugh,

"I've never related more to something," I say, "so I was thinking, when you get back in town..." I pause waiting to see if she'll interrupt, but she doesn't, "I have a great idea for a date. Any idea when you'll be back?"

"Ummm," she pauses, no doubt thinking, "I'm trying to work it out with my parents." She stops speaking, whatever she's been waiting to say is about to come out. "Griff. My parents want to move here. I really don't want to. I love Florida, and I love being so close to you, and I really want to stay there, so I'm talking to my mom about it."

"Mae," I start, "why didn't you tell me earlier?" I have many more questions, or rather things I want to say, but none of which seem like a particularly bright idea.

"Because," she starts as if that's an answer, "I didn't want to worry you when it wasn't for sure. It still isn't for sure." she adds.

"Okay," I say slowly, attempting to process this, "when would you know for sure?" I ask.
