I sigh as I turn over onto my side. Yet another day in New York. I've gotten so bored lately. We've been here for 2 months which is longer than we ever stay somewhere usually. Don't get me wrong. New York itself is amazing. I've seen a bunch of broadway shows, and we've gone shopping a ton, but it's just boring now. The missions are boring as no one has caught onto us, and I've been doing them my whole life anyways. I miss Griffin like crazy and texting or facetiming isn't the same. At least we stayed in touch. The missions are getting less and less since we have already got most of the targets needed. I think Mom and Dad will relocate us soon, and I honestly, for once, cannot wait. It's almost 8, which is my normal talking time with Griff. I hold my phone in front of my face waiting for it to ring, which sadly, it doesn't. 2 minutes. That's how much longer I have to wait. My phone starts buzzing, 1 minute early and I pick it up quickly.
"Hey!" I exclaim. This is the only highlight of my day now.
"Hey, what's up?" he asks.
"Not much," I start, "my summer job is ending so I haven't had much to do lately." I tell him honestly. "Hey Griff."
"Mhmm," he says, and I can tell he is looking at me, not me though, something about me. I wipe my face to see if I have anything, but I don't.
"Umm, remember how we promised we'd meet up," I start, "you know in Penn, or somewhere else." He nods,"Yep," a smile grows on his face, "Why you wanna cash that meet up in?" he questions. I sigh and nod.
"I really need a break from my family right now," I say, kinda truth. "So I was thinking... maybe like next weekend, could you go there? Like Friday to Monday?" I see him thinking.
"I'd have to check with my boss at work, but I don't think he'd mind me taking a few days off," he answers, "I'll text you later if I can." I nod grinning,
"Same here," I say, "I really can't wait to see you again."
"I can't wait either," he starts, "so about this day of yours..." and Griffin and I continue talking until 9, when he hangs up. I go downstairs to make a bag of popcorn and watch a movie.
"Hey," Mom says from behind me, seemingly just coming back from a mission, as she is still geared up and everything.
"Hey Mom," I say hesitantly, about to ask her about going to Penn. "Can I ask you something?"
"Of course sweetie, what's up," she brews herself a decaf coffee as she is talking.
"Well James and I have been talking, and it's been so long since I last saw him," I pause, "so we were thinking maybe I could go to Penn next weekend from Friday to Monday or something. I can hang out with James, run a few missions, you know." I talk a lot when I'm nervous.
"I don't see why not," she says as I let out the breath I wasn't aware I was holding, "I'll check with Dad and his parents tomorrow morning and arrange everything."
"Thanks Mom," I answer grabbing the popcorn and running upstairs. Once closing my door I realise a tiny problem with my plan. I pull out my phone and find James' number.
Me:
Hey James
James:
What's up
Me:
Um, not much, can I ask you something
James:
