"For the last time, Virgil, no!" Deceit yelled at his younger brother. "You are not allowed to leave the palace! Go to your room!"
"Just because you're king doesn't mean you're my mom, Dee!" Virgil cried back at him.
Remus watched unnerved from the side, twiddling his fingers and wondering over whose side to join when they started to fight.
"Go to your room!" Screamed Deceit, his yellow eye beginning to glow.
"Fine!" Virgil threw his hands up in the air. "Fine! Fuck you, Dee! Fuck you!" And the young Prince stormed out of there, hands in pockets, radiating hate.
The moment his brother was gone, Deceit flopped, deflated, onto his black throne. "Go check on him, Remus... Make sure he isn't trying to run away..."
"Sure thing, Dee..." Remus replied, sympathetically and gave chase after Virgil.
These fights had been happening ever since Dee became king. Some might say Virgil wanted to be king and hated Deceit for becoming king instead. Bullshit. It wasn't because Virgil wanted to be king at all; it was just that Virgil wasn't a kid anymore. He wanted to explore. And Deceit didn't want that. He wanted his younger brother close by him at all times, so nothing bad could happen to the Prince.
Remus grimaced. It definitely was not an easy job.

When Remus arrived in Virgil's' room, he stood silently in the door, watching Virgil stuff a backpack with several clothes. Remus was about to help then paused. What had Dee said? Did he say make sure to help Virgil run away? Yeah, definitely that.
So Remus moved to the bathroom and packed a toothbrush, toothpaste and a large knife into a small bag. "Here you go!" He smiled handing the ag to Virgil, who jumped.
"Why are you helping me...?" Virgil asked curiously.
"Because I think annoying Dee will be fun! And he'll totally forgive you when he finds you, just like he always does!"
Virgil smiled, taking the bag. "Good point. I've finished packing now. Wanna help me get to the Breaking Woods?"
Remus smiled back. "Yep!" He said, popping the 'p'.
"Great. Out the window?"
"Out the window."
The Prince grinned, pulling the backpack onto his back, and vaulted out the window with Remus close after him. The wind whistled in his ears and made them pop. He saw ground and went limp, just like he'd done thousands of times.
Virgil hit the ground, arm first, and the rest of his body crashed down heavily. He rolled away just as Remus crashed where he had been moments ago. He got up, stretching. "Always fun, that is!" Virgil grinned. Remus nodded in agreement enthusiastically as he stood too.
"Let's get to the thestrals!" Crowed Remus, grabbing his friends' wrist and running him to the stables. They persuaded the stable buck with a lot of mis-matched lies and soon were riding away from the palace, cackling all the way.

"Virgil," Remus whispered. "Virgil, we should go back!"
"Oh, c'mon Remus! I've never been this far out before!" Virgil hissed back.
Remus squeaked when his thestral trod on a dry twig. Clearing his throat, he pretended it didn't happen when he said, "Virge, we seriously should turn back!"
But Virgil wasn't listening. He had seen something in the shadows. It was slow and lumbering, moving dangerously. That's when a stench hit his nose. Fuck, it smelt worse then Dee's' bath salts he got from Remus last year. "Trolls!" He spat.
"What?" Remus paled, reaching his mace.
That's when hundreds of trolls floundered through the bushes, making unearthly noises. The two of the men screamed and Remus grabbed his mace. "Virgil, ride for the castle, I'll be right behind you!"
Virgil pulled at his thestral's' reins for it to move, than froze. "Which way is the castle?!" He cried to Remus.
"Wherever you see a tall spire!" Remus yelled back, crunching the mace into a troll's' leg.
Virgil nodded, and scanned the sky as he kicked his thestral for it to run. As he charged blindly through the trees, he saw something to the left of him. A spire! Yanking on his thestral's' reins, they changed direction, racing for the spire. The trees thinned and a weird light entered the forest. The trees were alight with pretty, pink fireflies and weird, tiny, winged people.
Virgil didn't care. He kept riding, regardless of the new environment. Soon he was out the forest, riding in a weird daylight. Clouds were white and fluffy and the sky was a perfect blue, unlike home. He didn't care, and kept racing for the spire, which now revealed itself to be attached to a glistening castle. "Dee!" Virgil yelled at it, despite no one being around to hear him. He didn't care - Dee could help Remus. He just needed to-
He pulled at his thestral's' reins sharply. This wasn't his castle. His castle was dark, gloomy and nice. This... This was bright, shiny and ugly. Wrinkling his face in disgust, he dismounted.
Slowly leading his thestral along, he found a stable attached to the back of this ugly palace. It looked just a stupid, filled with white, fleshy and hairy thestrals - they were repulsive. Virgil swallowed, hoping they weren't sick and the disease wouldn't spread to his beautiful, skeleton thestral. Kissing the cold muzzle, Virgil tied it up and touched one of these white thestrals.
Oh, god. They were warm, and their wings were covered in poofy feathers. They were ugly.
Turning away, Virgil saw a back door. Even this door was ugly and bright. And locked. Not that it mattered: Virgil had gotten past every locked door in the palace and he wasn't going to fail to one in this plagued corner of his Realm. Maybe when he found Deceit, they could find a cure for this ugly illness that had settled in this unfortunate corner of his Realm.

Roman smiled lightly at his friends. They knew exactly how to make him feel better.
"Now, kiddo!" Patton said brightly. "Let's stand on your balcony for a bit and have a look over at the private stables! See if the stable boy managed to clean up your Pegasus!"
The three of them went onto the balcony and Roman breathed in fresh air, momentarily distracted by Logan's' gasp and Patton's' strangled welp. Opening his eyes, he saw it instantly.
"A thestral?!" He spluttered. "In my private stables?!"
Logan looked at dark, ugly, skeleton horse with its' flappy, skinned wings. "It's definitely a thestral..."
"Look! There's a person going to the back door!" Patton squealed.
The trio exchanged a glance. then Roman began to smile. "If I can get a Dark Realm spy, my father will have to see my responsibility! Heck, he may even accept me for being gay!"
He turned and ran from the balcony, through his room and into the corridor.
Patton and Logan exchanged alarmed glances before bolting after him.

Dun dun dun... Shit's about to go down =w=
