Joan smiled nervously again.
"Stop smiling, you look weird when you smile," Virgil sniffed with a grumpy frown.
Joan stopped smiling. "Sorry..."
Roman, who was sitting in the Dark Prince's' lap, took Virgil's' hands, glancing up at him. "Virgie..." He mumbled into the underside of Virgil's' chin, making the prince's' breath hitch. "Virgie, be nice..."
"F-Fine, but you stop, princey," Mumbled Virgil, moving his head away from Roman with blushing cheeks.
"So, what happened?" Joan asked, resting their head in their hand.
Patton spoke next, cuddling his daughter tightly while Fletcher sat on the ground next to him. "Basically, Deceit got there and literally turned into a giant snake, destroying almost everything in his path."
Virgil snorted, before quickly covering his mouth when everyone turned to face him. "S-Sorry, it doesn't matter!" Roman raised an eyebrow at the taller male, cupping the back of his neck. Virgil turned flustered quickly. "...I'll tell you later..."
"And we got t the throne room where we met three, important people." Patton continued, as though he'd been uninterrupted.
Logan took over. "We met their King, Thomas, someone surprisingly naive for all the bullshit they've caused. We also were introduced to his right-hand man and someone else, I'm not entirely sure what he did."
"Remy and Emile," Virgil said. "Remy was the Kings' personal reporter and Emile was second under Remy, basically meaning he reports to him. They were the ones who talked and asked me the questions when I was in a cage."
Joan blinked slowly. "When was there a cage-"
Roman coughed quickly, as if not to distract Joan from the story. "We were brought Fletcher and Amai but, as I'm sure you noticed, Amai wasn't exactly whole-" Patton cradled Amai closer to him and Fletchers' eyes darkened. "-Her arm was missing. She had to undergo some serious operation, stayed with the doctors to learn a little more about her arm and it took us about two days to ride back."
"This King Thomas?" Asked Joan. "Is he still a threat?"
Logan shook his head. "Deceit's made sure he wouldn't bother us again. We have a treaty with them but, as of now, no alliance."
Joan whistled through their teeth. "People won't like that. What about the children?"
"Currently in my Realm," Explained Virgil. "The portal was right on the border and we couldn't subject them to walking back here for two days, not in the state they were in. We have our best psychiatrists working to help them through whatever they've been through."
The knight nodded, a goofy grin forming. "When will you tell the people, Ro?"
The king smirked, tilting his head up to Virgil. "Once we've caught up.~"
Virgil suddenly picked up on Roman's' tone and he went bright red, looking at Roman with wide eyes. Patton covered Amai's' ears and Fletcher covered his own.
"Oh, come on, Virgil!" Teased Roman, getting off the others' lap, ignorant of everyone's' eyes upon the two. "The sooner we get to it, the sooner it's done!" The King took Virgil's' wrist, pulling the prince, who was now in a very gay panic, up to him. He grinned at Joan. "You can tell the people I need to rest, right?"
"As long as you keep it down enough so they believe me!" Joked Joan, winking at his friend.
"W-Wait, Roman-!" Virgil began to say, finding his voice but Roman was already tugging him out of the room.
Logan sighed loudly when the door echoed shut. "Honestly, those two are never really going to change."
Amai looked from Patton to Logan. "Where are they going?" Fletcher giggled but Patton shot him a surprisingly sharp glare.
"You'll find out when you're older, baby..." Patton mumbled, oblivious to Fletcher's' frown.
Logan, almost without hesitation, placed his hand on Fletcher's' shoulder, his son quickly climbing onto his lap. Joan, with the sudden feeling he was watching something too personal, stood up.
"I'll go tell the people." He said hurriedly, leaving quickly.
.:*:.
"My people!" Said Roman loudly, crowd captivated as always. The day was so symbolic of his coronation, with Virgil on his right and Logan and Patton to his left. Roman smiled at the horde. "We have rested very well-" Virgil turned red, "-And are able to bring you news of what happened. We have defeated this Grey Realm and we now have a non-violence treaty with their leader."
The crowd began to grumble angrily and someone shouted, "We are not their allies!"
Roman frowned. "No, we are not. We will never forgive them for what they have done to us. But my friend, King Deceit, has caused destruction to their home on such a massive scale that it will take centuries to repair!" The crowd cheered. "And our children will return!" Roman continued, playing into the enthusiasm. "As we speak, children, currently safe in the Dark Realm, are boarding thestrals and are riding back here. Soon, we shall return to normal!"
"But what if they are injured?" Cried another person, their worries echoed quickly.
"We will make the Grey Realm fix it!" Roman assured. "They already have, when they removed the arm of my dear friends' daughter. No child will be left out of this, for they have done no wrong!"
The people cheered again and Roman's' eyes began to sadden. "But the first thing we will do when everything has returned to how it once was is something I hoped wouldn't happen for a long time."
Everyone fell silent, knowingly, as they bowed their heads. Virgil took a step forwards, resting his hand on Roman's' shoulder.
Roman swallowed down his voice crack, closing his eyes to blink away tears. "We will hold my fathers' funeral soon. Until his body is laid down to rest, the Light Realm is under Mourning Protocol."
