A Night In The Throne Room

Roman was the last one awake, still cradling Virgil and Patton. He stared blankly at the floor, still trying to process it all.

Logan was his advisor. And his best friend. He'd been with him since he was seven and the two had built a mismatched life with each other. Roman couldn't help but feel like a part of him was missing. He tightened his grip on his friends.

Finally, Patton sneezing snapped him alive again. Logan may be dead, but he needed to help Patton and Virgil now. Gently shifting Virgil off him, Roman picked up Patton and began to carry him to Deceit's' throne. Roman lay down the baker against the throne's' side and fiddled with his friends' cardigan. Once the grey cardigan was thrown over Patton's'  shoulder, Roman pulled off his sash and tucked it around Patton.

Roman lifted Vigil off the ground once he was satisfied with Patton's' makeshift blankets. Carrying the emo to the throne, he lay him down in the seat and tucked him to the side and sat next to him, now unclipping his cape.

Tossing it over the both of them, Roman huddled next to Virgil, listening to his friend's' soft breathing. This better not look creepy right now... He thought.

Surprisingly, he fell asleep faster than expected.

Philip was exhausted, practically dead on his feet. Glancing to his left, he swallowed his pride in embarrassment. Even if he felt dead, at least he didn't look like an actual corpse like Logan. The advisor slumped and dragged himself forwards, lurching like a zombie.

Deceit seemed to be wide awake, however, looking to the world like a man on a mission. Not the like the same could be said about his fiance.

The Duke seemed to actually have fallen asleep, mouth slightly ajar and eyes drooping. Remus shut his eyes and fell into Philip, who fell into Logan, who fell into Deceit. It looked like a domino effect and was amusing for anyone except the four dominoes.

"What the hell, Remus?" Deceit snapped, trying to shove Logan off him.

"I fell asleep!" Whined Remus, pouting as he picked himself off of Philip.

Philip scowled. "You were standing up."

Remus opened his mouth, frowned, blinked, hesitated, shut his mouth, opened it again, held up a finger, shut his mouth, lowered his hand, thought, then said, "So?"

"The fact you're still functioning is a miracle," Logan muttered sarcastically as Philip helped him stand.

Deceit snickered, yellow eyes slitted in cold amusement. "He has a point."

"Shush, shush, shush SHUUUUUUUSHHHH!" Remus pouted again, placing his hands on his hips firmly as he huffed loudly.

Sir.

Philip shrieked and clung to Remus's' arm when he heard the voice in his head, leaving Logan to fall over again. Deceit stared at the Light Realm King in disbelief. "Holy shit, dude."

The older king coughed awkwardly, stepping away from Remus who was trying very hard not to laugh. "I didn't react that badly."

"No, you just decided to drop me, give me a headache then step on my hand." Logan groaned, voice permanently set to sarcasm.

Have I interrupted something, Sir?

"No, you haven't, knight. What do you want?" Deceit turned to the knight with a smile.

Logan glanced at the knight's' arms with terror, barely relaxing when he saw that the knight had two arms.

The Prince is sleeping on your throne, with two other men.

"Ooh, a threesome! Look how good little Virgey is! Soon he'll be able to move to foursomes like I have!" Remus smirked cockily. His smile dropped to an awkward grin under Deceit's' sharp glare.

"I see," Deceit mumbled, tearing his glower away from his fiance. "Leave them be, I'll be there in a moment."

The knight stooped low in a bow and then marched away like a robot. Logan finally picked himself up off the floor.

Philip swallowed awkwardly. "Those are your knights? They're really creepy..."

"I know," Logan growled, hugging himself nervously as he watched the retreating black figure.

"Let's just find Virgil." Deceit said.

"And Roman!"

"Oh, shush now, you old ogre."

"Ogres aren't that bad..." Protested Remus.

Philip glanced at him. "You'd know, wouldn't you?"

"Huh? Wassat supposed to mean?" Remus asked.

"He's calling you an ogre," Logan explained, fixing his glasses as he let himself relax.

Remus gasped and the two kings laughed at him while Logan tried to figure out what was so funny.

Deceit led the way to the throne room. Now everyone was rather awake, although Logan often needed assistance because his body was stilling trying to return to life.

The four men reached the door and Deceit paused, hand on the polished handle.

"Dee? Babe, is everything okay?" Remus asked, taking the King's' other hand gently.

"What is he's not there, Remus? What if he left o-or he was never there in the first place?" Theorised Deceit, staring at the door handle with an untellable look in his eyes. "What if Virgil doesn't want to see me?"

Philip sighed sadly. "He will, Deceit." The two Dark Realm nobles turned to him curiously, forcing him to explain. "He knows that, if you're here, it was him. That you travelled back as quickly as you could for him. And he knows you love him, and you've always been-" The old king paused as he realised his mistake, "You've always been accepting." He finished quietly.

Logan placed his hand comfortingly on the old man's' shoulder. Philip didn't look much like a king now. He seemed more his age, more like a frail, old man who needed to relax and needed to stop working so hard.

"Roman will want to see you too." Logan offered. "I could tell he missed you during our month of travel."

"I wasn't worried," Philip muttered, but definitely seemed to relax.

Deceit swung open the door quietly and peered in. His jaw dropped and he tried to speak but it came out as a strangled cry.

Remus looked in nosily. "Virgil!" He whispered loudly.

"Roman..." Philip breathed in hopeful disbelief. The old king didn't feel the tears that spilt down his face.

The young Light Realm Prince opened his eyes at the sound of his name and saw his father.
