Warning: Fighting, death and a breif mention of a seizure. As you can tell it shall be a very pleasant chapter.
Virgil watched Emile and Remy enter the room, both trying to hide the apprehensive feelings from their face, as they stood next to each other. Two guards stationed themselves by the door on the outside and two followed the men inside.
Remy frowned calmly. "We do not need to be protected here."
"Of course, you don't, sir." Said the guard blankly. He glanced at his friend and they started to shut the door.
"Sirs, please, you must hide! They're going to kill you!" One tried, who took off his helmet and this was the first time Virgil'd seen a guard do that. He had an average face, with average eyes and an average nose. He was so average it was comforting. His head had been shaved to stubble and those average eyes were filled with surprising panic. "The others, they're staging a mutiny!"
His friend nodded and Virgil wondered if he too was average underneath the visor. "Please, sirs, you must run!"
"Almost every guard is against you, so, please, hurry-!" The first guard ended his warning with a small, gurgling gasp. A sword blade was sticking through his chest and his eyes dropped down to it. A small bubble of blood popped at the corner of his mouth, trickling down. He fell flat on his face and Emile screamed.
The late guard's' friend spun around to be greeted with the same fate of his ally.
"Heretics must be dealt with," said the new arrival, shaking his head sadly. He kept his bloody sword out and suddenly men poured in. The whole room was surrounded by them, two still stationed by the door. "Such a shame... See what you boys have made me do?"
Remy licked his lips nervously. "You don't have to kill us, Kai-"
"Oh, I think we do. You're heretics. You two are disrespectful to our King." Kai smiled as he snapped his visor up. He was average, just like the one before him. The only difference was the darker skin and brown eyes. "Every heretic must be written off."
Emile glanced at Virgil, cuddling into Remy fearfully. The prisoner was doing a good job of being asleep.
"Then don't kill Emile! He's done nothing!" Remy protested, wrapping his arms around Emile.
"Nothing yet. He'd tell King Thomas what we've done and then we'd be punished. He'll have to go too." Kai countered, his smile growing twisted.
Emile swallowed. "B-But the matured is here!"
Kai rolled his eyes. "The matured is asleep. They won't do anything to save you anyway, you're holding them hostage."
The guards all drew their swords at the same time, the silence of it ominous. Virgil tensed, letting himself roll over as though none of this interested him, shouldering his jacket off him gently. He was going to ruin his shirt, but not his jacket.
"Everyone!" Kai commanded with a crazed look in his eyes. "Mutiny!"
Before the men could even register the command, Virgil was out of his cage and snapped one guard's' neck smoothly. The body didn't even have time to drop before his sword was formed and he plunged it into another's' chest. Men instantly began to scream as he teleported above a large huddle of them, spider legs pushing rapidly from his back as they tore through his shirt and skin. The spider legs grew sharp like daggers and stabbed through a guard each, and Virgil slaughtered another.
"What the-?!" Kai spluttered, eyes wide in irritation of his plan failing. Remy reacted instantly, snatching the guards' wrist and breaking it. Kai screamed as Remy shoved him to the ground and the two rolled around in a brutal struggle.
A guard tried to lunge at Emile but Virgil was there, yanking the man forwards as all eight spider legs stabbed into his side. The man gargled and dropped to the ground.
Now everyone began to struggle and shove their way to the door. One snatched the handle, trying to force it open. "It's locked!" He cried, tears welling in his eyes at the revelation that this was where he would die.
Virgil heard the poor man and was teleported to the man's' location. He lunged just past that man and punched an actual hole through one's' chest, grabbing a different man and pulling him through that hole before snapping the neck. The two bodies fell and Virgil proceeded to wipe out the others with smooth destruction. The poor one at the door kept trying to force it open.
.:*:.
The guards stationed outside heard the struggle.
"Good thing we locked the door." One commented.
"Mm," hummed the other. "Remy and Emile are definitely desperate to get out."
.:*:.
The room was in carnage. Bodies littered the ground, thick like a carpet. The only two still alive was the one struggling at the doorknob and Kai, who just managed to kick Remy off him.
Remy fell back, sliding across the floor. His sunglasses were thrown off his face and he glared at Kai with those golden eyes.
Kai froze, staring into those golden eyes with fear. He began to shake and just dropped to the ground.
"Did you kill him?" Emile whispered in shock.
Virgil knelt down by the man, narrowing eyes. "He had a brief seizure and then a heart attack."
"Don't kill me, please!" Cried the man at the door, suddenly getting the men's' attention. "I didn't want to hurt anyone, they made me!"
Virgil stood slowly, his spidery legs pulling back into the wounds that began to heal over. He cupped the man's' cheek in one hand and narrowed his eyes. " I believe you. But you're going to go and let us out now."
The man nodded fearfully and he knocked three times on the door.
It swung open and Virgil punched the two guards who opened it in the face. They fell to the ground, unconscious. "There we go. Now, where's this Thomas person?"
