Deceit sighed, placing down his fork and looking his brother dead in the eyes. "Virgil, you are being very positive currently and I understand that is sometimes the effects of the castle but this is unusual, even for you."

"Seriously, Dee, I'm absolutely fine! I'm better than fine!" Virgil laughed, holding up his hand, where there was a beautiful golden ring, embedded with a red jewel. "Roman- he proposed last week and it's just... I've been in a great mood!" Virgil smiled fondly down at the ring, stroking the jewel as he let his mind wander.

Deceit, however, recoiled like he'd been stung. "He what?!" Spluttered the King.

"It was so cute!" Gushed Virgil, holding his hands together in front of his chest like he was praying. "He was so nervous about it and it was just amazing-!"

Remus began to grin. "Honestly, you're making it sound like marriage is a good thing!" He teased.

Deceit looked at Virgil, eyes wide. "You can't be-! I-!"

"Remus, I have been waiting for this forever, of course, it's a good thing!" Virgil scoffed.

"Virgil, tradition says-"

"Okay, my little non-virgin, calm down! Just stating the facts, isn't that right, Dee?"

The two other men finally turned to their King, who was stilling staring at Virgil with an expression unreadable with all the conflicting emotions. "Did you say yes?" He managed to choke out. Virgil nodded enthusiastically. "You can't say yes!" Replied Deceit, frowning in confusion.

Virgil quickly frowned back. "You said yes when Remus proposed."

"Only the oldest blood relative can say yes and I am the oldest blood relative and was at the time of Remus's' proposal. You can't have said yes."

It was now the young prince's' turn to recoil, frown morphing quickly into a glare. "Yeah? Well, I did and you can't stop it. Times are changing, Dee!"

Deceit shook his head, still trying to work this out in his mind. "N-No, I don't mean it like that but Roman's just disregarded one of our Realms' deepest traditions and you let it go! I-! This isn't good, I won't allow it!"

Virgil gasped, eyes widening. Deceit hadn't said that to him in six years. He began to shake angrily and one of the doors' handles across the room exploded.

Remus licked his lips nervously. "Okay, we can talk through this, guys!" He said hurriedly. "Virgil, you know the tradition and you should have explained but, also, you've waited for this for ages, I'm pretty sure it was the last thing on your mind. Deceit, please remember that Virgil is twenty-five and he's no longer eighteen. Besides, he and Roman have been together for seven years, it's not like this is rushed or anything!"

Deceit's' confusion had turned to anger. "I am going to talk to King Roman about this, it's highly disrespectful to throw away our traditions like this when we have worked very hard to accustom to theirs!"

"Dee, please-!" Began Virgil furiously, jumping to his feet the same time as his brother.

"I'll be back," Deceit said over his shoulder. He turned back to the door, pushing it open. "Saddle my thestral! I ride to the Light Realm tonight!"

Virgil moved to lunge after him but Remus caught his wrist. "Don't..." Groaned the Duke. "You know he likes to make a fuss and you know he'll say yes because of how much it means to you."

The prince pursed his lips, hesitating, but reluctantly sat down. The two ate in silence.

Deceit let himself wallow in his annoyance as he rode through the Dark Forest slowly. He wasn't in too much of a rush, besides, he didn't want to tear off Roman's' head in his anger. He knew that the other King often forgot to consider these smaller things but it still hurt.

The Dark King had worked so hard when invited to meetings, balls or dinners to try to make sure he understood the customs but Roman never really remembered to do so too. It was almost embarrassing when Roman behaved as though he were in the Light Realm while at one of Deceit's' balls. Even King Thomas, who Deceit despised and rarely invited, researched all the customs and had memorised them. Deceit had at least expected for Roman to have enough common sense to see if there were any traditions applied to it that dated back for over forty-thousand years.

Deceit calmed himself with a quick breath when he heard something behind him. He grimaced in annoyance, before turning to face a cheery-looking man. He raised an eyebrow. "Hello?"

"Hi," replied the man. "I'm Skol and I'm afraid I need to borrow a good period of your time." Deceit's' eyebrow arched even further and Skol simply beamed up at him. "I hope it'll be done soon but your friends may cause some trouble!" He said happily.

Deceit frowned quickly. "What-?"

Deceit never made it to the Light Realm that night.
