Virgil felt his eyes open heavily.
"Your highness?" A voice asked him, on the verge of tears, it seemed. He looked up, hissing in pain at the banging headache. "Oh, your highness!" A guard dressed in dark steel with a blonde plume of feathers erupting from their head was kneeling in front of him. "I apologize for rendering you unconscious, we believed you were an enemy power!"
Virgil stood up, grunting. "Let me guess, Dee sent you in to look for me?"
The guard nodded. "Commander Taylon, Sire. My companions are Luetenits Valerie and Terrence. We shall return you to your brother now." Taylon grabbed his wrist with a smile behind their visor.
The male guard, Terrence, made an odd noise and smacked face-first into the ground. Valerie spun around to be greeted by a fist to the face, smacking to the ground next to Terrence. Taylon pulled out their sword, waving it at the shadows, still holding Virgil's' wrist.
"Stand back! Whoever you are, reveal yourself!"
A loud warcry came from behind Virgil and Taylon and Peggy launched herself onto the commanders' back, pinning her to the ground. Eliza stepped from the shadows and knocked out Taylon with a frying pan while Angelica burst forwards to check Virgil for wounds.
"Virgil, are you okay? Did they hurt you?" She asked, tilting his head in multiple directions.
Virgil pushed her off lightly. "Yeah, I'm fine. W-Why did you do that?"
Eliza made an offended noise playfully. "Yeah, thank us for saving you!" She grinned, trying to lean on the frying pan, but just stumbled over because she bent too low.
"They were going to take me back to my brother..."
"Oh." Peggy looked at the three unconscious Dark Realm guards. "Ah, we messed up, didn't we?"
"Well, what was I meant to do? I just saw them grabbing his wrist so I thought they were bad!" Eliza defended herself. "You helped, didn't you?"
"Now, girls, calm down..." Angelica held up her hands in surrender. "We can work this out!"
The door slammed open. "IS mY dARk stRAnGE SoN oKAy?!?!" Patton shrieked, tackling Virgil in a hug.
"I swear, you're my dad," Virgil claimed with a small smile.
Roman and Logan walked in behind Patton. Roman looked at the three Dark Realm guards. "What... happened?"
"We can explain!!" Peggy yelped. "We thought they were going to hurt him!"
"Hurt him?" Inquired Logan. "What were they doing?"
"We came through a side door," Eliza pointed at the silhouette of a door in the shadows. "And we thought they were going to hurt Virge because that one," Angelica gestured to Taylon, "grabbed his wrist."
Peggy nodded, as Angelica added, "So 'Liza and me knocked out those two while Peggy tackled the one that grabbed him."
"And... Who were they?" Asked Roman. He was holding a small notepad which had his cursive, swooping handwriting and contributions from Logan and Patton, they're handwriting also suiting their personality with sharp letters for Logan and soft, circular swishes for Patton.
"Some guards from my Realm," Virgil explained. "They were going to take me to Dee."
Patton put his hands behind his back and swung his body side to side, like a toddler. "Do you want to go back to Dee? Cause we had an idea..."
Virgil raised an eyebrow at Patton.
Logan sighed and snatched the notepad from Roman, ignoring the offended Princey noises. "The truth is, the three of us had an idea. We thought that if the four of us travelled into your kingdom and brought King Phillip and King Deceit to us, we could try to end the war before it properly begun."
"Well, way to take credit for my idea!" Scoffed Roman.
"Roman, your idea was us kidnapping both Kings and making them fight over who was right and wrong while we acted like the peacemakers." Logan corrected, pushing up his glasses.
Patton huffed. "He gave us a basis, Lolo; give credit where credit's due!"
"Anyway... Care to join us in this adventure, emo nightmare?" Roman half-bowed mockingly, extending his hand.
Virgil took Romans' hand daintily before yanking him towards him and tripping up the prince as he came. Romans' girly yelp was obvious. "I might..." Virgil said with a smirk.
Roman smoothed out his suit, mumbling about how it could've been creased.
"Sweet!" Said Peggy, clapping her hands. "Let's go! Will I need to pack?"
Patton's' face dropped. "You're... not coming..."
Angelica's' eyes widened. "You're asking the Schuyler sisters to sit out on an adventure?"
"We need you to," Assured Logan. "You have to cover for us - besides, we'll only be gone a month."
Eliza glanced at her sisters, then back to the boys. Silently, she nodded in agreement.

"So how will we be getting there?" Virgil asked, smoothing down his thestral's' snout affectionately.
Roman smiled at him, noting his obvious love for his steed. "We thought that your thestral and my pegasus could pull a small hay cart. We'll take turns leading them, and we'll use the hay as bedding."
Virgil looked back at him, with his signature shy smirk. "Good idea."
A loud grunt and Logan appeared from the back of the stables, pulling a big cart with him. He stooped for breath, panting. "I hate my new job..."
"Your EX job, you mean!" Roman commanded, in his most royal voice. "I hereby knight you my Royal Advisor again, and anyone who disagrees can go to Hell!"
Logan looked up at Roman. Slowly, his straight face broke into a wide smile. "Thanks, Ro... You can be a good friend, sometimes. Even if you're a big prick the rest of the time."
"Got some bags!" Patton cried, swinging open the door with the Schyulurs behind him. Patton skipped up to the cart with several bags, climbing in, while Logan tried to attach the steeds to their harnesses.
Angelica followed up behind him, passing up several things like blankets and more bags. "Take care, will you?" She asked, a hint of worry in her voice.
Patton beamed at her, keeping his voice steady. "Don't worry, we'll be fine! We always are!"
Logan climbed in beside Patton as Virgil and Roman took the reins.
"See you in peace time!" Peggy smiled.
Eliza said nothing, eyes already brimming with tears. She clung to Angelica's' arm, watching the cart start and move away steadily, watching her friends wave back at her.
.:*:.
Patton finally found he could no longer see his friends in the distance. He turned around to the scene in the cart.
Logan tried to read a book, as Roman and Virgil discussed directions while trying to drive. He breathed out.
"Lolo?"
"Hm? Yes?"
"We have a time limit, don't we?"
"We do. One month."
"And there is about a quarter of this day left?"
"Correct. When this day is done, we'll have thirty left to get to Virgil's' palace and summon the Kings there. Or else-"
"-Or else King Deceit will burn down the Light Realm." Patton finished.
There was silence.
Then Roman said, "Way to bring down the mood, Pops. Way to bring it down..."
