It had been a week. A whole week. And Virgil still hadn't returned. Deceit narrowed his eyes at the stuttering reporter. He sat on his throne, head resting on his fist, glaring down at the snivelling man. "Tell me," He said, voice dangerously high, "Are you any closer to finding him?"

The reporter swallowed. "N-No, King Deceit..."

"Then why are you wasting my time?"

 "King Deceit-"

"Silence!" Dee sat up straight suddenly, causing the poor excuse of the man to cringe and whimper. "You have yet to provide me with news on my brother and fiance. Get your best tracking beasts and find them, or I'll fucking kill you myself!"

The man bowed weakly, nearly falling over. "Yes, King Deceit."

"Get out of my sight, you idiot bastard." He spat. The reporter ran out and Deceit sighed. "You want to do something properly, do it yourself." And he stood from his throne, leaving the throne room. "Fetch me my thestral!"

Virgil sat on the balcony, listening to Patton whistling. He watched the stable boy get convinced by Roman to clean the thestral. It took a few minutes, but finally, the boy nodded in submission to the other.

Virgil didn't know why Roman was so important. He also didn't know why they didn't know who he was. He was their Prince! He sighed to himself. He hoped Dee was okay - he'd be furious. He also didn't know why they wouldn't let him see Dee. Virgil needed to tell his brother about Remus and the trolls. He felt sick with worry.

The sickness began to spread and his vision blurred. He breathed heavily, clenching his hands into fists. His throat grew restricted, and he tried to stand up, falling over completely. Patton looked up. "Kiddo? Anxiety? Are you okay?" Then the comforting voice just faded into a muffled shout. Virgil clutched at his head, now standing again and walking back slowly. Was he walking back? Maybe he was pacing around in circles backwards.

Someone grabbed his shoulders. They were quite strong and blurred - Logan. Virgil tripped, feeling something hit against his back. Muffled shouting. He was panicking, and he kept walking against the thing that trapped him on the balcony. He didn't like being trapped. He wanted it to open, to go away: he hurtled through the air, hardly aware of Pattons' shrieks.

He landed on something, but it wasn't the ground. Someone was holding him the way Remus picked up Dee - bridal style. "Breathe." The voice was close to his ear, clear. "Just breathe, relax. That was quite a stunt!" This person lowered him down gently, not letting him go.

"Dee?" Virgil's' voice cracked, panicked at first. "Dee, is that you? Dee, where's Mom?" He cuddled into his brother, confused and lost, screwing his eyes shut. He didn't know when Dee got here. Of course, Dee was here. Dee was always there when he panicked, always there to tell him to breathe. Where was their mom? "Wh-where's Mom, Dee? Doesn't... She know... we need her..." He relaxed into his brother, falling into sleep. "We need her..."

Roman stared down at Anxiety. No way. No fucking way. The back door banged open as Logan and Patton ran in. "Is he okay?" Patton cried, dropping by Roman.

"How did he survive that fall? He should've broken a bone!" Logan seemed more confused as he knelt quickly next to his friend. He caught sight of his prince's' face. "Roman? Are you okay?"

The stable boy, Jefferson, had run over by now. He was arrogant usually but seemed more panicked now. "Sir! Are you okay?! Who is that?"

"Don't worry, Jefferson, I can deal with him. Go back to work." Roman stood up, Patton and Logan quickly following suit. "Come on, back up to the room, I have some shit to tell you."

Anxiety was lying on Roman's' bed, curled up and shaking. Patton brushed the hair away from his eyes gently. Logan smiled slightly at Patton - he was so gentle and caring, admirably so.

Roman watched Anxiety from across the bed and then clapped his hands together. "Kay, so. When I caught Anxiety, he started calling me 'Dee', and we know he calls KIng Deceit that. Then, he started asking me where 'Mom' was. Literally, he said: 'Dee, where's Mom?'."

Logan felt his jaw drop, almost too surprised by the instant realisation to close it. Patton frowned. "So? King Deceit could just know his mom or something."

"You're implying that he's Prince Virgil..." Logan breathed.

Patton looked down at Anxiety, eyes growing wide. "Oh, my cookies..."

"I know! This means that not only do we have someone important, but we have the Prince Virgil! We could get Deceit to surrender anything!!"

Logan swallowed. "Or, Deceit wages a war for us keeping his younger brother hostage."

"Way to bring the mood down, Lo." Roman crossed his arms, but his face twitched nervously. He knew that was a possibility.

"Do... Do we tell your dad?" Patton asked. Roman shook his head.

"No, he'll just send Anxiety- Virgil, I mean, into the dungeon. We have got to-"

The door opened and a maid popped her head around the corner. "Sir, is it true?"

"Eliza-!" Roman began, uncrossing his arms.

"No, Sir, I won't tell! It's just me, Angelica and Peggy, and they won't tell! We came to inform you that the king wants to talk to you..."

Roman swallowed, glancing at Patton who was staring at Virgil, almost confused, and Logan who gave an encouraging smile. "Alright. But you three stay here with Pat and Lo. We seriously can't have you telling anyone." And with that, he headed for the door, already feeling the dread of having to speak to his father.
