Operation

The elixir worked. The ingredients were gathered almost instantly and Roman had drunk it the moment it was prepared. Misty white had lifted off him, rising to the ceiling before slowly evaporating into nothing. What's the first thing he did when the curse was lifted? He made out with Virgil for at least ten minutes.

Patton had been told why Roman had needed an elixir to be cured, as he still didn't know. It had taken him a whole day to forgive him, distraught that everyone knew but him. He'd spent a lot of time with Amai, paranoid over what may happen if he didn't know where she was at all times. Logan had been there, to make sure Fletcher didn't feel ignored or left out and to make sure Patton rested. The fathers would fight almost out of nowhere and would then instantly make up. Both would cry afterwards.

Thomas had managed to prepare a perfectly sized arm for Amai. It would touch into her nerve system by a tube that would head through her shoulders, up her neck and then tap into her neural area. Thomas had insisted that the operation would be simple, even easy for doctors of the kingdoms' standards.

That is why Patton gripped Logan's' hand tightly as their daughter was led into the operation room. Roman stood comfortingly by their side, Virgil on his arm. Deceit had promised Thomas that if anything happened to the girl, he'd kill him. Brutally.

Remus wasn't trusted to be in such a sensitive place.

It was the second day of Amai's' operation. Patton was still asleep but Logan hadn't closed his eyes for longer than a millisecond. Virgil and Roman had left, both feeling unwilling to sleep in a corridor while their best friends were so tense.

Deceit hadn't blinked for three hours. His eyes were trained on Thomas who'd hardly slept due to the snake-like eyes trained on him.

The fourth day of the operation. Logan had crashed out on Patton's' lap. Patton had crashed out on Logan's' shoulder. Fletcher waited for his parents to wake up. Roman quickly placed his hand on the boys' shoulder with an encouraging smile.

"It's alright, Fletch! Amai will be fine and then everything will go back to normal!" He promised with forced enthusiasm.

Fletcher bit his lip hesitantly. "Do you think they love Amai more than me?"

"Of course they don't!" Gasped Roman, kneeling down next to the boy. "You're amazing and fantastic and they know it! They are only worried about your sister!"

Fletcher wrapped his arms around Roman, holding back the tears that he wouldn't even let form in his eyes. "Your husband seems nice..." He mumbled, desperate to change the conversation.

"M-My husband?" Roman asked.

"Yeah... The tall one with the purple hair!" Fletcher said, tilting his head.

Roman laughed, despite himself. "Virgil isn't my husband, he's my boyfriend!"

"Don't you want to be husbands?"

This made the king pause. Roman smiled, slowly and softly. "I do... I really do... I'm just not sure Virgil is ready."

Fletcher shrugged, refusing to let Roman go from the hug.

The door swung open a week after it closed. Amai stood there, hand in hand with a doctor. Her arm was there.

It was silver and tiny blue and red wires could be seen between tough, heavy plates. It was a little longer than her human arm and thicker. Her hand was still dainty but had a cold edge to it. She hugged her fathers so tight Logan ended up getting a bruise. Amai had become the strongest five-year-old in the world, even if it was only because of a robotic arm.

"If the shoulder joint becomes uncomfortable ever, bring her back. It may be because she's grown or the wiring is incorrect." Said the doctor.

Patton nodded and locked eyes with the doctor. "Thank you..." He whispered. The doctor smiled back, empathetic, before leaving the scene.

Logan saw Fletcher hanging nervously at the boundaries of the hug and he turned to his son, wrapping his arms around him with a smile. Patton followed his husband, hugging the boy happily. Amai picked them all up in her arms, giggling loudly.

Deceit turned to Thomas. "Is it bad I still want to kill you?"

Thomas paled. "I think so?"

Deceit shrugged. "Weird."
