Virgil sat next to the newly married couple, on Deceit's' right. Remus sat on Deceit's' left, making his brother the centre of the tables' head. Roman glared at Virgil from across the table but the emo didn't meet his gaze.

Roman didn't want to glare at him. Roman wanted to hug him and cry. But he didn't. Because Virgil had been mean to Joan and Joan still seemed upset.

The Light Prince glanced across his father to Joan, who sat on Philip's' right. The knight seemed to not want to meet Roman's' eyes, focusing on their food or Patton.

"Joan?" Roman asked, forcing the non-binary knight to focus on him. "You want to hang out after this? Ooh, we can go to that meadow!"

"T-The meadow?"

"Yeah, y'know. The really pretty looking one-"

A beautiful silver tray that housed a large amount of fish exploded and bits of salmon went flying. A fresh cod smacked King Philip in the face, much to Remus's' amusement who laughed at him very loudly.

Joan swallowed. "My god..." they whispered, staring at the smoking silver ash that remained of the tray. Virgil flushed.

Roman blinked, then giggled, then burst out in laughter, quickly joined by everyone except Joan and Virgil.

"That was a good one, Dee!" Remus cackled, looking at his new husband. "Could've told me!"

"Aw, c'mon you old octopus! I know it was you, don't blame me!" Laughed Deceit until both stopped laughing and stared at each other.

They swivelled around to face Virgil who stood up and pushed away his plate. "I'm not hungry. I'll see you all..." He met Deceit's' gaze and wilted but didn't stop walking away, "...soon." And he left, closing the door quietly behind him.

The room was silent now, everyone wondering what the hell had just happened. Deceit sighed, standing up with a cross expression. "He is not pulling this shit on my  union day," Mumbled the King in annoyance and stormed off to follow Virgil.

"Now, kids, don't worry!" Remus laughed, gaining everyone's attention as he stole some food from his husband's' plate. "Deceit's gonna get Virge to eat something! He wouldn't let that boy get away with anything."

Patton smiled slightly. "Ahaha! Cool..." He murmured, not entirely understanding but definitely feeling awkward.

Joan cleared their throat as conversation slowly started up again. "I don't think that-that I'll be able to meet you on the m-meadow, Ro... Maybe invite someone else?" Roman looked at them as Joan continued cutting up the same piece of beef he'd been cutting up last time Roman tried to talk to him despite it being gristle, "Maybe Virgil? H-He looks like he needs to relax... And the meadow is a very relaxing p-place."

"You sure?" Frowned Roman.

"Mhm!" Their voice broke.

"Okay..."

Roman felt the conversation veer to an awkward halt and he looked at his meal. It was his third plate, as the food served was a buffet. He wouldn't miss it - to be honest he was just eating because it was delicious.

Virgil had only taken a small plate filled with starters. Roman risked a glance across the table: it was untouched but his fork was gone. Along with his knife. And his dessert spoon.

Roman stood up, checking his watch to think of a plausible excuse. "I'm kinda tired, I'm gonna hit the hay. G'Night."

"Roman, speak properly." Lectured his father.
