Ryans parents houseI walked up to the door hand and hand with Ryan who looked down at me giving me an enthusiastic smile. "Are you ready to meet the rest of my crazy family?" I nodded my head letting out a nervous chuckle. "Yes babe I am." Ryan twisted the door walking in and the house was filled with all types of noises and delicious smells. "Typical Italian Family and some of my stepmoms family is here too." Today is Ryan's dads birthday and Ryan told me his dad would love for his future daughter in law to come as well.
A little girl about 7 with beautiful chocolate skin runs up hugging Ryan around his waist. "Hey uncle Ryan. Is this your girlfriend? She is really pretty." She smiled showing her missing front tooth waving at me. He leaned down picking her up. "Abby this is Kelis. Kelis this little lady bug is Abby." I smiled waving back at her. "Hi Abby you are really pretty too. I like your hair." Her smile grew even bigger. "I like her." She wiggled out of Ryan's arms running off somewhere.
"I know I hear my favorite person." Ryan's mom came from in the kitchen and he smiled really big holding his arms out but she walked right past him and gave me a big hug. Ryan stood there with a shocked expression. "That one hurt me a little." He held his chest kissing her on the cheek. "Hey old lady." She popped his arm causing him to winch. "Ouch." He ran behind me trying to use me as a shield causing me to laugh and trying to move but he moved with me.
"I got your old lady." She popped him again before walking off towards the kitchen. "Let me introduce you to the rest of my family." He took me to the living room introducing me to everyone. A tall slinky man about 30 came up and put Ryan in a choke hold from behind. Ryan laughed and pushed his way out of it. "This is my favorite cousin. Artie. He's my bio moms sisters son."
"You know you can call me your aunt I don't bite...sometimes." This really pretty lady about 55-60 walked into the living room with a wine glass in her hand. She looked me up and down giving me a dirty side eye look. I put my hand over my heart a little taken back. Ryan squeezed my hand causing me to look at him. He mouthed the words. "please be nice." As she walked up she completely ignored me looking over her glasses at Ryan. "Where's Joi?"
The entire room got quiet as she stood there with her arms crossed. Ryan put his head back sighing softly. "Auntie Karla you know I'm not with her anymore. This is my girlfriend Kelis." She looked in my direction giving me fake smile. I mimicked her expression causing her to scuff and walk off. I turned my head to the side looking at Ryan barley above a whisper. "You are so lucky my parents taught me to respect my elders because she literally tested my entire existence and I almost took this wig off." I rolled my eyes pulling away from Ryan and walked towards the kitchen to see if I could be of any help.

The men and kids were all in the living which left myself, Ryans mom, her sister. his aunt, a few of his younger female cousins and Jackie in the kitchen.
"So Kelis are you excited about finishing your last semester of undergrad?" Ryan's mom questioned as she loaded the dishwasher. I nodded quickly causing everyone to laugh except Ryans aunt she just gave me dirty look. "I'm so ready to start law school. I've applied everywhere but I have my fingers crossed for Stanford or UC Berkley but UGA has a great program."
"Well you know UGA has produce so many successful lawyers but Stanford and Berkley are top 3 so you go girl do your thing." I smiled and thanked her as I continued to clean off the kitchen counter. Ryan walked into the kitchen and grabbed a few beers from the fridge. "I have a pretty and smart girlfriend." He walked over kissing my forehead causing everyone to coo except for Ryans aunt.
"Enough of that. I heard through the grapevine that Joi is going to UGA next semester. Are you going to show her around Ryan and help her out?" She clapped her hands together smiling big at Ryan.
"Enough is enough." I threw the towel in my hand down turning my attention to Ryans Aunt who was giving me a death stare. "I allowed the cold shoulder, dirty looks and sly comments and mentioning of Joi enough for tonight. You are delusional. I am Ryan's current girlfriend and Joi is an ex you know like in the past, a distant memory so no he doesn't care about her, he won't be showing her around or helping her out. I'm here now and plan to be for awhile so I'd would think a little respect isn't too much just like I showed you all night."
Her mouth was wide open as she just stood there with her arms crossed. "They way you just spoke to me is out of line." I went to speak again but Ryan stopped me and stood between us.
"No everything she said is right. You are acting crazy. She is my girlfriend and Joi is someone who is irrelevant and will never be apart of my life again. You need to stop bringing her up or stop coming around. Wherever I am she will be right by my side so you need to learn to respect her and our relationship."
She stood there and she looked like she wanted to kill me she then snapped her head up looking at Ryan. "The only true family you have left you are willing to throw away for some-some hoodrat!" She screamed pointing in my face.
My eyes grew in size as her comment started to trigger me. At this point everyone was up and looking at the three of us. Ryan's dad was trying to calm her down as she started yelling in Italian. "You know what let me just remove myself from this situation." I walked out of the kitchen immediately pulling my phone out ordering an Uber and Ryan was on my coattail.
"Kelis." He grabbed my arm but I snatched it away putting my hands up. "I don't want to deflect my anger towards you so please do not touch me when I'm upset." He stepped back nodding his head. "Okay but you can't just leave." I scuffed squinting my eyes shaking my head. "Yes I can and I am. I already ordered an Uber to your place and I'll wait for you." I grabbed my coat slipping on my uggs. I leaned up pecking his lips softly which slightly brought my anger down until I saw his aunt walk towards the living room shooting daggers at me with her eyes. "I'll text you when I get there. I love you." I pecked his lips softly again walking outside getting into my uber.
I leaned my head against the back seat sighing deeply. Joi was a problem in its self now his aunt is a problem too. She's rooting for Joi and will probably try and get them back together. She had to be the one to tell Joi that Ryan was still going to UGA. I put my forehead in my hand. "God please get us through this." I thought as I sat back taking a deep breath trying to get peace of mind from my own negative thoughts.
