UNconventional || Part 1

I sat on my bed in the lodge looking out into the forrest. I picked this amazing retreat in the woods of Tennessee. A 3 floor log cabin. Girls have the top floor, guys have the second floor and the main floor is a common area. All the amenities are taken care of by the staff in a different building.

"Girl this house is humongous and absolutely stunning." Kennedi stood by our bunk bed with a bowl of popcorn. "I'm surprised you even came though." I looked over at her rolling my eyes.

"Girl I'm not even worried about Q. He knows I have a boyfriend so I'd hope he'd respect that." She put her hands up backing out the room. "He better cause my moneys on Ryan." I laughed shaking my head. I looked down at my watch noticing that I received a text from Ryan. I picked up my phone so I could reply.

"You two are adorable." I jumped up turning around noticing Q standing behind me. "My bad ma I didn't mean to scare you." He chuckled softly causing me to let out a nervous laugh.

"Stop being nosey." I chuckled again and I noticed Q was staring at me. "What?" He shook his head shrugging his shoulders. "Still trying to figure out how that white boy manage to get you." Still staring at me Q rubbed his thumb over his bottom lip before chuckling lowly shaking his head walking out of the room.

I mumbled underneath my breath. "What the fuck?"

I pulled up in front of the Jergen's residents because JJ is having a party to celebrate the success of his charity drive from earlier this week.

I walked into the house and people were everywhere and Drake was playing throughout the house. I walked over to the drinks and started pouring myself a double shot of tequila when I felt someone's arm wrap around my shoulders.

"Hey man I was wondering when you were coming through." I slapped up JJ and shortly after Jacobe came up. Of course people stopped him and asked for pictures and autographs.

"I just came to show my face really quick. Emmi isn't feeling good so I gotta go back and take care of my big baby." We all laughed at Jacobe. "Don't laugh because if it was Kelis bro you'd be doing the same thing. Your ass probably wouldn't have even left her."

I nodded my head shrugging my shoulders. "You're absolutely right." We all laughed again as we started enjoying the festivities.

An hour into the party Jacobe left a while ago and now we were out in the backyard just having a good time. JJ and I were playing beer pong with some freshmans.

JJ stumbled a bit as he walked in my direction. I held my arm out gaining a laugh from him. "Hey Ryan your a good dude. My sister is out there with Q, her ex, and your like totally chill about it." I furrowed my eyebrows and felt anger take over my body. JJ was drunk so I don't even think he realized he just ratted his sister out. I stormed away from the table and walked around the house and away from the noise to call Kelis.

I pressed Kelis' name on my phone and waited for her to pick up. When she did I heard music and laughing. "Hey babe let me get somewhere quieter." I heard her moving around.

"You're going to miss the fun. Tell your man he can wait." I couldn't make out who exactly that was but I know I definitely heard that voice before. "Q let her talk to her man." That caused my anger to increase. That's why he acted how he did when he dropped her off...and she lied to me.

"Okay hey I'm outside...what's up honey?" I leaned against my car shaking my head sighing deeply. "Ryan...are you okay?"

"Kelis I want you to be honest with me about something." I leaned my head back pinching the bridge of my nose.

"Okay." She responded in a confused tone.

"So Q is your ex and you just bothered not to tell me or?" She sighed deeply before responding. "Yes Ryan but that just would've caused for you to have unnecessary suspicions and worries about me coming on this retreat."

"And this helps?! You lied to me Kelis. All that Q is just a friend bullshit was a coverup for some old sexual relationship you had with a dude that's staying in the same house as you!"

"I didn't lie to you Ryan! We are that. Just friends. That ended over a year ago. What? I'm suppose to tell you everyone I slept with just in case I'm around them too?"

"If the shoe was on the other foot you would feel exactly the same. Remember Joi?"

"Why are you doing this Ryan? Who told you anyways? Was it JJ?."

"Doesn't matter who told me. You should've told me. If I was somewhere with Joi it would be a problem." I hung up the phone turning it off putting it in my pocket. I'll let her think about her actions. I walked back into the house and straight to the drinks pouring myself a half cup of Hennessy. No chaser.

I tried to call Ryan back multiple times but it went straight to voicemail. "What the hell?" I slammed my phone done letting out a frustrated sigh. I heard footsteps behind me which caused me to turn around and see Q.

"You okay Kelis?" He had a look of genuine concern on his face. I nodded my head. "I'm good...thanks." I walked around Q and back towards the lodge.

"Wait! Kelis!" I turned to Q walking towards me. "Yes Quinton?" He gasped dramatically putting his hands over his heart. "Wow my government name. You always call me Q." He poked his bottom lip out causing me to laugh. "Ahh there's a smile. Can't have you going back to the fun all upset. Come on." Q took my hand and walked back towards the cabin.
