Perfect Family

Catherine's (y/n) point of view

It's been a couple of days now and the guys and Zak's family was finally allowed to come and meet Sophia. I couldn't wait to see Cody and for him to meet his little sister.

After I had some breakfast I had to wait for the OBGYN to come and check me over.

OBGYN: "morning Catherine (y/n) how are you today?"

Catherine (y/n): "really good thanks"

OBGYN: "I'm glad to hear.. Is Zak not coming in today?"

Catherine (y/n): "yeah he is, he's just coming up a little later with our son Cody. We're allowed to have visitors to see her now"

OBGYN: "that's great news, she'll be home with you in no time"

After she finished checking me, I got dressed and was just about finished when Zak and Cody walked into the room.

Cody: "mama"

Catherine (y/n): "hi Cody!"

I held Cody in my arms and hugged him tight. I've really missed being with Cody. As I was holding Cody, Zak came over and kissed me.

Zak: "morning beautiful, you OK?"

Catherine (y/n): "I'm better now that I have both of you here".

Zak embraced me in his arms and we all enjoyed our time together before we take Cody to meet his little sister.

After a little while longer we was finally allowed to go and see Sophia. Zak held Cody in his arms and held my hand as we walked up to see her.
About 5 minutes later we finally alked into the room Sophia was in and we walked over to her,  as we stood around her I reached into her incubator and held her little hand.

Zak's point of view

As me, Catherine (y/n) and Cody was all around Sophia I felt extremely proud and happy. This moment with my little family feels perfect and I feel so lucky to have my own little family. As Catherine gently took Cody from my arms and held him the OBGYN started talking to her about how well Sophia is getting on.

I was listening to their conversation and taking it all in about Sophia's progress, but then my mind started to wander. I just looked at Sophia and held her little hand in my hand, as I was looking at Sophia I also looked at my beautiful Fianceé and my son Cody.

I just can't believe how perfect everything feels, and how perfect my life has become in a space of a year and so many months. In a space of a few short weeks me and Catherine (y/n) will finally be married, then not long after that Sophia should be coming home.

As I was deep in thought, I thought to myself I won't let anything happen to my little family. No matter what happens I'll always protect them with my life and I'll always be there to support them. I don't ever want to lose Catherine (y/n), Cody or Sophia...they are my whole world.

Everything came back into focus as Catherine (y/n) talked to Cody and showed him Sophia.

Catherine (y/n): "that's your little sister Sophia, do you want to meet her?"

Cody: "sis"

Zak: "I'd take that as a yes"

Catherine (y/n): "is she OK to come out of there?"

OBGYN: "of course she is, let me take her out for you"

Zak: "here baby let me hold Cody"

I carefully held Cody as Catherine (y/n) sat down and the OBGYN carefully put Sophia in her arms

Zak: "now Cody you have to be gentle as Sophia is a little bit poorly and she has special things on her to make her feel better"

Cody: "sis"

I kneeled down in front of Catherine (y/n) and had Cody to sit on my knee as he met his sister for the first time properly. Then the most cutest little moment happen Cody gave Sophia a kiss on her head.

Catherine (y/n): "that's so sweet Cody, you're such a good boy"

Zak: "good boy Cody"

OBGYN: "would you like me to take some photos of you all together?"

Zak: "yes please...here I'll hand you my phone"

I got my phone of my pocket, unlocked it and got the camera up ready for her to take photos. Then she got busy taking alot of photos of me, Catherine (y/n) and Cody with Sophia.

After alot of photos she handed my phone back and then I took some photos myself mainly all of Catherine (y/n) with Cody and Sophia.

I didn't want this moment to end but unfortunately it has to soon as my mom is coming with the rest of my family to see us all and she'll take Cody with her for the night.

A few minutes later and they all arrived. I was happy to see them all, but as I just thought to myself I didn't want to end my time with my little family.

Nancy: "aww look at her she's so beautiful"

Meredith: "she looks like a little doll"

Maddox: "uncle Zak, auntie Catherine (y/n) are you sure she's not a doll?"

We both smiled and laughed a little bit

Zak: "we're sure buddy"

Catherine (y/n): "she's made alot of noises to prove she's not a doll"

Thomas (Zak's step dad): "how's our little grandson finding being a big brother?"

Catherine (y/n): "he loves her, he keeps gently touching her cheek, holding her hand and giving her kisses"

Zak: "and we've got all of those moments on photo too"

Meredith: "I'm so glad Cody loves his little sister.... How are you feeling Catherine (y/n)?"

Catherine's (y/n) point of view

I think I'm doing well if I'm honest apart from the odd pains here and there but otherwise all good. And most importantly I feel so happy and complete with my little family.

Catherine (y/n): "I'm very good thanks, just in a little bit of pain here and there but otherwise I'm very good and very happy"

Meredith: "I'm glad you're OK"

Nancy: "have they said when you'll be coming home yet?"

I knew this moment would come and in a way I'm happy to go home but I'm not happy that I'm going home and leaving Sophia behind. They haven't said when I'm going home, but I know I'll have to leave in a day or so.

I couldn't say anything all I did was shook my head no, I looked over at Zak and he knows that I'm upset about leaving Sophia behind.

Catherine (y/n): "would you like to hold Sophia?"

Nancy: "of course, I would love that sweetheart"

I carefully stood up and gently placed Sophia in Nancy's arms. Even though everything around me is a very special moment I felt happy but now I'm feeling upset. I don't want to leave Sophia behind, I want her home.

Zak knows I'm feeling sad and he came over to me to comfort me.

Zak: "baby?"

I didn't want everyone to know I'm upset so I quickly left the room, I need to be by myself for a couple of minutes. As I left the room I went to the family room they have just down the corridor, sat on a chair and began to cry.

I cried... I cried and I cried, I don't want to leave my little girl. I want her to come home to where she belongs with me, her daddy and her big brother.

During my break down I didn't see or hear Zak come over to me.

Zak: "baby..."
