Chapter 26

My birthday came and went as did the daylight and the moonlight. Simba and Nala have come to visit a bit more often due to the fact Kiara and Kovu are always here with the little devils we all at The Cave have learned to love and care for. Each day they grow bigger and stronger. Nafari looks a bit like a male version of Vitani while Zuri looks like a combination of Nala and Simba with Kovu's dark fur.

They are adorable.

"Tanabi!" I heard my favorite cub shriek as he ran from his bigger twin Nafari. I chuckled as his tiny feet clashed against the cave floor. I stood up, careful not to disturb my resting mate, and then I ran over to the cubs that have caused havoc throughout the cave. I splayed my huge front legs in front of me leaving my butt in the air as Zuri giggled over to me, headbutting me lightly. I leaped into the air and then ran over to Nafari and tapped his paw as I ran out of the cave.

"Wait for me!" I heard them say in unison as they run after me. I make sure to only be a few feet away from the cave knowing Kiara will freak out if she doesn't see her cubs when she wakes.

"Come here!" I shout as I take both the cubs into my paws and lick their heads only to mess up their small tufts.

"Hey!" Nafari giggled as I continued to drool on their heads.

"Ewe!" Zuri chuckled as he wiggled free and landed on all fours. Nafari then fell as well and raked his paw over his head to smooth it out. Just then a heavy built figure appeared at the mouth of the cave.

"I thought I'd see you here." His deep voice echoed as the cubs ran over to him with smiles on their young faces.

"Good morning, Mheetu." I greeted as I stood up and trotted over to him then rubbed my forehead against his.

"Morning, Tanabi. " He greeted back with a smile. I returned the gesture and watched as the cubs ran around and pounced on one another. I chuckled at how easily entertained they are.

"They're getting bigger everyday." I comment as we look at the cubs with great pride, these two will one day be chosen to rule the Pride Lands and when that day comes I have no idea how I will react.

"I know, it's incredible." Mheetu smiles and we chuckle when Zuri tackles Nafari to the ground and growls with victory.

"Way to go little buddy!" I hear MK shout from the mouth of the cave as he waddled over with tiny legs.

"Hello there, MK." Mheetu greets.

"Hey." MK says quickly then opens up his wings and flies onto my head.

"Is this really necessary?" I whine as he sinks his claws, piercing my skin.

"Of course, how else will I see?"

"By flying you useless rat." I hear Mheetu chuckle followed by soft footsteps, much too soft to belong to Mheetu.

"Muna, Makuma, Haunani you're all up early." I smile and shake MK off causing him to shriek and flutter to the ground with a loud thud.

"Jerk." The nerdy bat says but I ignore him and lick each of the spotted cubs heads.

"Yup, we wanted to play with the twins today." Haunani spoke surprising me a bit but I didn't comment on that.

"Well, have fun." Mheetu says as he pushes the cubs over then the three of them run off and jump on the twins. They giggle then take off towards a nearby tree and begin to climb it laughing and enjoying their young lives as they did.

"When do you and Vitani plan on having cubs?" Mheetu asks from absolute nowhere causing me to jump slightly from the sudden sound of his voice.

"Uh, well, I mean we're not even married or affianced." I blush and kick a rock with my huge paw.
