"what is going on?" joy asked with a visible frown on her face. "what were you and taehyung talking about? explain to me eunwoo."

"i didn't want you to find out like this," eunwoo whispered. "not like this."

joy remained silent. her eyes took in eunwoo's body, lying on the bed. her mind was in chaos and her heart felt tight, as if something was pressing on it.

"im so sorry." eunwoo said. "i was going to tell you myself..."

"tell me what?" joy asked. she took a long deep breath and opened her mouth. "...are you sick?"

eunwoo pursed his lips and nodded hesitantly.

"oh god." joy whispered, her voice shaky. she covered her face with her hands and stayed like that for a few minutes, trying to process her thoughts. then, she put her hands away and looked into eunwoo's eyes. "but you can get treatment right? you can get better right?"

the look in eunwoo's face told joy the answer. his sickness was untreatable and he wasn't going to get better, only worse. joy felt her heart drop and blood drained from her face.

"one month." eunwoo said. "that's how much i have left."

"no, no." joy murmured, tears starting to fall from her eyes. suddenly, she fell on her knees and she started sobbing loudly on the floor. "why is this happening? you don't deserve this...no."

a wrenching feeling started in eunwoo's heart, it hurt to see joy like this. removing the blanket off from his body, eunwoo jumped from his bed and kneeled in front of joy's crouched body. he wrapped his arms around joy and hugged her tightly.

"im so sorry." he whispered in her ear while rubbing her back. "so sorry"

"why are you apologizing to me?" joy cried. "don't apologize, it's not your fault. you dont deserve to suffer like this? it's not fair..."

eunwoo smiled weakly, "that's what i was saying."
